THE CHALLENGE
Onward Energy is in search of an analyst to assist the Capital Markets team. The successful candidate will play a vital role in developing the Company’s strategic long-term corporate and asset-level models, facilitating project and corporate financing executions, and conducting ad-hoc analyses to support our rapid growth. This position is highly collaborative, offering exposure to corporate finance and project finance strategies while engaging with various teams across the organization.

THE RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Support the acquisition of debt for current assets and potential acquisition targets, including creating financial models for lenders and coordinating due diligence processes.
  • Collaborate with internal and external teams to ensure precise modeling assumptions and financial evaluations.
  • Prepare internal memorandums and presentations focusing on investment returns, valuation metrics, and sensitivity assessments.
  • Provide analytical and modeling support for company-wide initiatives such as asset sales, re-contracting, redevelopment, and other portfolio projects.
  • Establish quality control procedures to guarantee the accuracy of deliverables.
  • Evaluate investment opportunities from both quantitative and qualitative perspectives, including valuation modeling (DCF), financial statement analysis, market research, and competitive assessments.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned.
THE PROFILE TO SUCCEED

Bachelor's Degree in finance, engineering, business, economics, or a related field.
  • 1-2 years of experience in Independent Power Producers (IPP), investment banking, consulting, project finance, development, or asset management within the power and utilities sector, with a focus on financial modeling and valuation.
  • Strong financial modeling skills and analytical capabilities.
  • Experience with financing or M&A transactions in the power and utilities sector, and/or renewable energy.
  • Familiarity with tax equity financing structures is advantageous.
  • Knowledge of US power markets and a desire to enhance market knowledge.

• Self-motivated with a robust work ethic.

• Excellent verbal and written communication and presentation skills.
  • Ability to meet strict deadlines and manage multiple projects simultaneously.

• Capability to work independently and as part of a cross-functional team.

• Team-oriented with a willingness to tackle all tasks, regardless of size.

THE PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

• Willingness to travel up to 10%.

THE WORK ENVIRONMENT

This position operates in a smoke and vape-free professional office environment. The role typically utilizes standard office equipment such as laptops, phones, and scanners/photocopiers.

This role allows for a flexible work arrangement, with two days per week in the office and the option to work remotely for the remaining days. Our company provides the necessary technology and support to ensure seamless collaboration and productivity while working remotely.
