Unit Overview: 7 East is a 28-bed unit specializing in general surgery and Bariatric care, recognized for its modern facilities. We are an accredited center for elective Bariatric surgery, providing specialized post-operative care that leads to outstanding recovery outcomes. Our nursing team collaborates with patients to educate and support them through the Enhanced Recovery After Surgery Pathway. Our surgeons are at the forefront of innovative procedures, offering exciting opportunities for staff to enhance their skills and gain valuable experience. Regular meetings with leadership ensure new staff receive support for their professional development and satisfaction.

Key Responsibilities:
1. Assist healthcare providers during routine examinations and procedures, including the procurement of necessary equipment and supplies in emergencies.
2. In psychiatric settings, support patients with reality orientation, participate in behavior modification plans, provide informal support therapy, manage aggressive behaviors, facilitate age-appropriate activities for children, and ensure emotional and safety needs are met.
3. Observe, collect, and document patient information while providing care, promptly reporting significant changes to a registered nurse or physician.
4. Assist patients and families during admissions, orientations, and discharges.
5. Deliver care and treatments as outlined in the care plan, including vital signs measurement, specimen collection, simple wound care, and daily living activities.
6. Provide direct personal care for daily living activities such as bathing, dressing, feeding, and mobility assistance.
7. Perform indirect care tasks including cleaning, restocking supplies, and assisting with orientation of new staff and students.
8. Reinforce patient education provided by registered nurses or physicians and document patient understanding of instructions.

Qualifications

Education:
* High School diploma or GED required.
Licensure/Certification:
* Must be listed as Nursing Assistant I with the appropriate health department.
* Basic Life Support (BLS) certification for Healthcare Providers required.
Experience:
* Minimum of six months relevant experience as a nursing assistant, which may include completion of a nursing assistant course.
Skills:
* Proficient in verbal and written English, with basic computer skills.
