POSITION SUMMARY:

The Deposit Operations Specialist plays a crucial role within the operations team, assisting the Deposit Systems Manager in managing core deposit systems, the Cognos reporting system, and the document imaging system. This position also supports the administrator of the deposit origination application.

In addition, this role offers operational support and expertise regarding IRA accounts, requiring a thorough understanding of applicable regulations, account monitoring, and tax reporting obligations.

The ideal candidate will possess strong technical abilities, meticulous attention to detail, and the capacity to collaborate effectively with various stakeholders to ensure the seamless operation of deposit systems.



PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES AND ACCOUNTABILITIES:

Assist the Deposit Systems Manager in the administration and upkeep of core deposit systems, ensuring optimal functionality and dependability.
Comprehend the intricacies of deposit system functionalities, analyze enhancements and modifications made by core vendors.
Identify and resolve system-related issues promptly.
Support the administration of the Cognos reporting system, including the creation and enhancement of reports and scheduling report distributions.

Assist with the management of the document imaging system's deposit section to guarantee accurate and efficient document storage and retrieval.

Provide support to the deposit origination application administrator concerning system configuration and troubleshooting.
Act as a subject matter expert on IRA and HSA inquiries for retail staff.
Maintain an understanding of IRA and HSA plans, including core system/transfer codes for contributions, distributions, transfers, and rollovers.
Stay informed about changes to IRA and HSA regulations and rules.
Review IRA and HSA transactions to ensure accurate processing for IRS reporting.

SECONDARY RESPONSIBILITIES AND ACCOUNTABILITIES:

Become knowledgeable about and adhere to all relevant compliance regulations affecting the department.

Report to the VP Deposit Systems Manager for all functions while also receiving guidance and requests from other management members.

Make informed decisions within authority limits and seek higher-level approval when necessary.
Work independently while recognizing the importance of communication and coordination with other employees, departments, and divisions.

WORKING CONDITIONS:

Work is primarily conducted within the Bank, with minimal risk of personal injury. The role requires prolonged mental and visual concentration, with occasional stressful situations due to multiple priorities and deadlines. Standard working hours apply, with potential unscheduled evening and weekend work to meet customer and employee needs. Occasional travel between offices and out-of-town business travel may be necessary. The ability to lift and move up to 20 pounds of office supplies and equipment is required, along with some bending and twisting.

ROLE QUALIFICATIONS:

Education:

A 2- or 4-year degree in accounting or business is preferred.
Requirements:

A high school diploma or GED is mandatory.

Experience :

A minimum of 2 years of banking experience in a system administration or deposit role is required. Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook is essential.
