Position: Business Unit Financial Controller – WaterCo

Reporting To: Director of Finance - WaterCo

Location: Lombard, IL

Key Responsibilities:

WaterCo is in search of a seasoned financial management professional with a strong operational focus to enhance our dynamic team. We are looking for an individual who thrives in a high-energy, private equity-supported setting. This role will oversee financial accounting and regulatory compliance within our WaterCo Owned Dealer operations. The Business Unit Financial Controller (BUFC) will be accountable for all facets of the organization's internal financial reporting. Primary responsibilities include the preparation of monthly financial statements, supervision of financial processes and controls, and conducting analyses as requested by upper management. This position is crucial in delivering precise and timely financial insights to facilitate informed decision-making.

Specific Duties Include:

  • Generate and deliver precise monthly internal financial reports, ensuring timeliness and accuracy, along with commentary and variance analysis during Monthly Finance Reviews focusing on profit and loss and cash flow drivers.
  • Enhance financial closing processes and reporting standards across WaterCo's operational entities.
  • Act as the technical accounting lead, collaborating with the global corporate controller on accounting issues and implementing new policies as necessary.
  • Ensure adherence to accounting policies in line with Culligan's global standards and assist in the adoption of new accounting regulations. Safeguard company assets by enforcing proper procedures and internal controls for all local operations, with a heightened focus on cash management.
  • Collaborate with WaterCo Leadership and HQ Controllership to deploy a new ERP system across all WaterCo branches, utilizing the system for improved efficiency, compliance, and reporting. Establish processes to ensure the accuracy of ERP data that feeds critical financial reporting.
  • Oversee, mentor, and develop staff in financial literacy, business collaboration, and decision-making skills.
  • Manage the month-end closing process, ensuring all deadlines and tasks are completed accurately and punctually by each WaterCo operating unit and WaterCo HQ.
  • Provide necessary data for regular internal and external audits and address audit findings promptly and effectively.
  • Assist in cash flow and financial forecasting as well as the annual budgeting process.
  • Lead account reconciliation processes and validate financial results for WaterCo, offering guidance on reconciliation issues.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's Degree in Accounting; CPA or MBA preferred.
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in accounting and/or financial analysis.
  • Experience in public company accounting, including knowledge of SOX controls, is highly desirable.
  • Strong decision-making abilities coupled with excellent verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills.
  • Preferred skills include strong communication, critical thinking, and change management.
  • Demonstrated ownership and pride in performance and its influence on the company's success.
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks, prioritize effectively, and adapt in a fast-paced environment.
