This role is essential in enhancing member involvement and community outreach for the U.S. Green Building Council California (USGBC-CA), driving the statewide Green Building Movement. As our Membership Engagement and Events Specialist, you will play a key role in expanding our membership initiatives, offering support to members, and fostering active participation within our Committees and Chapters.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Facilitate engagement for our members and committees statewide.
  • Develop and implement a continuous member engagement strategy encompassing committees, chapters, and regional leadership advisory boards.
  • Assist in the management and upkeep of the membership database and CRM system.
  • Address member and community inquiries, including membership renewals, discount codes, and account assistance.
  • Coordinate membership drive initiatives and volunteer engagement.
  • Promote diversity, equity, and inclusion efforts to broaden the member base, ensuring equitable access and representation in speaking opportunities, leadership roles, events, and training.
  • Enhance member engagement through committee-focused content and coordination, facilitating committee meetings as necessary.
  • Support local chapter leaders in organizing events and monthly meetings, maintaining agendas, schedules, and relevant notes.
  • Assist in the planning, production, and execution of USGBC California's community events, including meetings, tours, panel discussions, and other community and team gatherings. Provide on-site and remote support for events, including video recording sessions, webinars, and live streaming.
  • Assist in assigning staff and interns to community needs and event support, and organize volunteer arrangements as required.
  • Maintain clear and timely communication with both internal and external stakeholders.
  • Support conference calls, site visits, and production meetings for member events as needed, ensuring timely scheduling of staff, services, and equipment.

REQUIRED SKILLS:

Applicants should be proficient in:

  • Google Workspace, PowerPoint, Word, and Excel or similar software; familiarity with task management platforms such as Monday or Notion is preferred but not mandatory.
  • Exceptional interpersonal communication skills, both written and verbal.
  • The ability to communicate professionally and efficiently with all levels of management and community members.
  • Leadership skills to inspire and motivate others.
  • Familiarity with Zoom or other webinar platforms.
  • A willingness to learn, adapt, and explore new skills, technologies, and workflow processes.

WORKING CONDITIONS & COMPENSATION:

This is a full-time, hybrid role. Compensation will be based on experience.
