Company Overview

ASM Global, a leader in the management of public assembly venues, is currently seeking a dedicated Sales Manager to join our dynamic team at the Oklahoma City Convention Center. This state-of-the-art facility boasts 200,000 square feet of exhibit space, a 30,000 square foot ballroom, and 45,000 square feet of meeting space.

Position Summary

The Sales Manager will play a crucial role in overseeing and coordinating all facets of the sales process for upcoming conventions, trade shows, and corporate events, as well as short-term bookings. This position serves as a vital link between the facility and clients, collaborating closely with Event Services to ensure that all client needs are met while adhering to facility regulations and policies.

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop and implement a comprehensive sales strategy targeting national, state, and local convention, tradeshow, and event business, including large catering functions.
  • Achieve and exceed sales projections, timelines, and schedules.
  • Coordinate promotional initiatives to enhance event bookings, including participation in industry trade shows and collaborative sales missions.
  • Engage with prospective user groups and individuals to initiate the sales process.
  • Follow up on leads generated through various channels.
  • Prepare bid proposals, sales forecasts, and relevant reports.
  • Deliver compelling sales presentations to potential clients.
  • Negotiate and finalize sales contracts and agreements.
  • Conduct facility tours for prospective clients and engage with site selection committees.
  • Maintain a comprehensive client database and conduct periodic follow-ups to assess future needs.
  • Build and nurture a broad network of contacts within local organizations and companies.
  • Participate in community and industry-related associations and committees.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned.

Qualifications

  • Strong organizational skills with the ability to prioritize tasks effectively.
  • Ability to work efficiently under pressure and meet strict deadlines.
  • In-depth knowledge of sales principles, presentation techniques, and the operations of trade shows and events.
  • Proven ability to maintain effective working relationships with clients and industry stakeholders.
  • Previous experience in hotel or venue sales for conventions and events is preferred.
  • Willingness to work flexible hours, including evenings and weekends as needed.

Education and Experience

  • Bachelor's Degree in Marketing, Public Relations, Event Management, Business Administration, or a related field.
  • Minimum of two years of relevant experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience.

Skills and Abilities

  • Excellent communication skills, both oral and written.
  • Ability to work independently while exercising sound judgment.
  • Flexibility to adapt to changing situations.

Technical Skills

  • Proficient in using personal computers and standard office software.

Physical Demands

This role requires the ability to move around the facility, stand for extended periods, and engage with clients during events. The position may involve working indoors and outdoors as required by event needs.
