POSITION:
Senior Geotechnical Engineer

Reporting To:
Associate Engineer and Principal Engineer

A Senior Geotechnical Engineer is expected to demonstrate proficiency in conducting various types of geotechnical assessments undertaken by the organization. Candidates should hold a Bachelor's degree, with a preference for a Master's degree in civil engineering or a closely related discipline, and must be a licensed Civil Engineer in California, with encouragement to also obtain Geotechnical Engineer certification. This role involves independent work on most engineering assignments, with oversight provided by the Associate Engineer and/or Principal Engineer.

Under the general guidance of the Associate Engineer and/or Principal Engineer, the Senior Engineer will be responsible for planning, executing, and managing numerous projects, where junior engineers will contribute significantly. Engaging with current and prospective clients is highly encouraged. Responsibilities include preparing budgets, proposals, and Statements of Qualifications (SOQ), all subject to review by the Associate Engineer and/or Principal Engineer.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Draft comprehensive reports with minimal oversight
  • Participate in litigation projects and offer expert witness services as directed by the Associate Engineer and/or Principal Engineer

  • Develop cost estimates, budgets, proposals, and SOQ submissions
  • Attend and provide testimony at public hearings
  • Liaise with existing and potential clients regarding project scope, service costs, and prospective future engagements

  • Supervise engineering personnel
  • Allocate engineers to ongoing projects
  • Schedule drilling operations
  • Review engineering correspondence and reports
  • Ensure adherence to project timelines
  • Coordinate engineers and technicians with construction initiatives

Qualifications
