What We Provide for Educators:

Oakland Unified has secured significant funding to support pathway programs, including tuition and debt relief for selected middle school teachers and Special Education instructors. We are committed to creating and sustaining affinity spaces for educators that promote retention and socio-emotional well-being. We offer extensive professional development and training opportunities, innovative curricula, ongoing mentoring, and pathways for advancement. Our educators are also afforded numerous opportunities to collaborate within Professional Learning Communities across the District.

In addition to professional development, we provide a comprehensive compensation package that includes:

  • Competitive salaries based on experience, educational background, and credentials
  • Acceptance of up to twelve years of full-time teaching experience from other educational settings on the salary schedule
  • Comprehensive medical, dental, and vision benefits, including Flexible Spending Accounts, life insurance, and long-term disability coverage
  • Retirement benefits through the CALSTRS Retirement System

Qualifications:

Applicants must possess a Bachelor's degree, be eligible for employment in the United States, and pass a criminal background check. Candidates must hold, or be willing to obtain, a California teaching credential that authorizes instruction in core subjects.
