Amergis Healthcare Staffing is seeking a dedicated Educational Support Specialist to assist students requiring instructional and behavioral support. This role involves collaborating with the special education department to provide essential assistance to students with diverse needs. The Educational Support Specialist will also aid in addressing personal care and mobility requirements as outlined by healthcare professionals.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Implement IEP objectives across various subjects, including math, reading, and social skills, either individually or as part of a classroom team.
  • Facilitate teacher-led learning initiatives, which may include lesson plans, educational materials, and group activities.
  • Support students integrated into general education settings.
  • Relay important information to educators regarding student progress and needs.
  • Supervise students during recreational and meal times, as well as during community outings.
  • Maintain strict confidentiality concerning all student-related matters.
  • Assist with specialized programs designed by related service professionals.
  • Help students develop independence through self-care routines.
  • Implement behavior management strategies as directed by educational staff.
  • Provide clerical support to teachers, including preparing materials and maintaining an organized classroom environment.
  • Assist with physical transfers and mobility as needed.
  • Report any changes in student status to the appropriate personnel.
Minimum Qualifications:
  • Adherence to professional standards of practice.
  • Completion of Amergis' Competency program when applicable.
  • Current CPR certification, if required.
  • Health screening documentation as per regulations.
  • Compliance with all federal, state, and local requirements.
  • Successful completion of orientation and training specific to the role.
  • Understanding of patient confidentiality and HIPAA regulations.
  • Strong communication skills and proficiency in English.
  • Basic computer skills are necessary.
  • Must be at least 18 years old.
