Job Overview

Position Summary: The Financial Control Assistant plays a vital role in ensuring compliance with GAAP accounting standards and maintaining a robust control framework. This position is essential for establishing accounting policies, managing the month-end closing process, facilitating the year-end audit, and addressing accounting inquiries. The Financial Control Assistant will report directly to the Controller and will collaborate closely with the CFO.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Guarantees that all financial activities comply with GAAP standards.
  • Prepares documentation for external auditors.
  • Supervises the creation and assessment of financial operating reports, presenting insights and recommendations to senior leadership.
  • Manages and reviews journal entries.
  • Conducts corporate financial and statutory reporting processes.
  • Oversees general ledger reconciliations and performs account analyses.
  • Reviews and interprets accounting records to prepare financial statements.
  • Coordinates monthly, quarterly, and annual closing activities, ensuring timely and accurate booking of transactions in accordance with Generally Accepted Accounting Principles.
  • Implements and integrates process changes into accounting systems and cycles.
  • Evaluates contracts to confirm accurate billing and revenue recognition.

Education and Experience:

Education: Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Economics, or a related field, or equivalent professional experience.

Experience: At least 5 years of relevant experience in general ledger management and financial analysis.

Preferred Qualifications: CPA, MBA, or Master’s degree is highly desirable. Familiarity with Great Plains Software is a plus. Experience in process improvement is advantageous. A strong background in internal controls is essential.
