Key Responsibilities:
  • Conduct thorough reviews and investigations of alerts, cases, and files concerning the Bank Secrecy Act (BSA), Anti-Money Laundering (AML), Market Surveillance (including Insider Trading and Market Manipulation), Office of Foreign Asset Controls (OFAC), and Know Your Customer (KYC) protocols, which encompass Identification Verification (ID&V), Customer Due Diligence (CDD), Enhanced Due Diligence (EDD), and ongoing monitoring to mitigate risks linked to financial crimes.
  • Perform investigative research on individuals, entities, and events related to current or potential clients using public records, open-source media, vendor systems, and other research tools, while reviewing customer onboarding documentation to identify, assess, and mitigate BSA/AML risks.
  • Analyze transaction data to identify patterns, anomalies, and potential fraudulent or suspicious activities through logical reasoning and analysis; develop narratives based on research findings and transaction patterns; assist in data gathering and research activities.
  • Utilize research and analytical techniques to evaluate information sets, drafting assessment summaries and written investigative reports to support informed decision-making and recommendations.
  • When necessary, escalate and draft Suspicious Activity Reports (SARs) for any identified suspicious activities in accordance with client service level agreements and regulatory reporting requirements.
  • Deliver high-quality work independently and collaboratively, ensuring client satisfaction.
  • Understand and adhere to client procedures, systems, and requirements.
Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree with a minimum of two (2) years of relevant experience; equivalent experience may substitute for formal education.
  • Familiarity with applicable laws, regulations, and guidelines, including BSA, OFAC, and FinCEN guidance.
  • Knowledge of Financial Crimes Compliance functions such as OFAC Sanctions, AML, KYC, CDD, EDD, and financial fraud investigations.
  • Understanding of the legal and regulatory environment concerning the BSA and USA PATRIOT Act.
  • Experience with open-source research techniques and sources.
  • Proficiency in composing and filing Suspicious Activity Reports.
  • Ability to identify and mitigate red flags for potential financial crime activities and provide sound recommendations.
  • Strong analytical and research capabilities.
  • Ability to work effectively in both team settings and independently.
  • Proficient in multitasking and prioritizing tasks effectively.
  • Experience in a production-driven environment.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills.
  • Strong proficiency in Microsoft Excel and other Microsoft Office products.
  • Ability to quickly adapt to new policies, procedures, and vendor systems.
  • Willingness to work beyond standard hours when necessary.
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Previous quality assurance experience.
  • Experience with financial crime risks related to Transaction Monitoring, Screening, Fraud Operations, SAR Reporting, KYC, CDD, and EDD.
  • General knowledge of compliance functions and processes.
  • Familiarity with conducting alert reviews related to Market Surveillance.
  • CAMS certification.
