POSITION TITLE: Mechanical Project Engineer

REPORTS TO: Lead Mechanical Project Engineer

Principal Responsibilities:

This role entails overseeing all mechanical and structural design functions essential for the modification and enhancement of electric overhead cranes across the Americas region.



Manage the Product Lines – Legacy EOT and Portal Cranes.Analyze order documentation, including detailed customer specifications, to define the scope of work and project strategy.Conduct research in company archives to locate records of legacy equipment, demonstrating proficiency in interpreting mechanical and structural drawings.Execute engineering tasks following established protocols, creating equipment layouts and performing necessary mechanical and structural calculations to validate designs.Develop detailed, sub-assembly, assembly, and installation drawings to fulfill order requirements.Draft comprehensive work instructions to facilitate field installation.Oversee project planning, scheduling, design execution, and adherence to budget and timeline from inquiry to start-up.

EDUCATION: A Bachelor of Science degree in Mechanical or Structural Engineering or a related discipline.

EXPERIENCE: A minimum of 5 years of experience with overhead electric cranes or comparable industrial equipment is preferred. A PE license or the capability to obtain licensure is advantageous. The ideal candidate should possess a strong understanding of machine design and structural engineering principles. Experience in the overhead material handling sector is highly desirable. Familiarity with industry standards such as CMAA and ASME B30 is beneficial. Knowledge of welding and machining processes is essential.

OTHER REQUIREMENTS: Strong verbal and written communication skills are crucial for this position. Proficiency in SAP, AutoCAD, Solidworks, and Microsoft Office is required. The ability to effectively communicate with frontline sales, customers, application engineers, and project management is necessary. Site visits for application and commissioning will require the ability to work at heights up to 100 feet. Travel is estimated at 5% for customer meetings, equipment commissioning, and product inspections at various manufacturing sites, including both domestic and international travel.
