We are seeking a highly skilled Mechanical Engineer to join our team at Konecranes Nuclear Equip and Services LLC. As an Installation Mechanical Engineer, you will play a critical role in designing and developing lifting equipment and machinery for the installation of cranes and material handling equipment.
Key Responsibilities- Design lifting equipment and machinery in Solidworks, working in a structured 3D environment where sharing models between engineers is the norm.
- Perform mechanical and structural calculations for custom lifting equipment following applicable standards.
- Develop rigging plans for moving crane components at the work site.
- Ensure precise adherence to customer specifications and industry codes from various countries.
- Annotate drawings with AWS D1.1 weld symbols, ANSI machining symbols, and other standardized signs to clearly illustrate designs for customers and manufacturing facilities.
- Develop Bills of Materials (BOM) to itemize all components of mechanical designs.
- Collaborate with other disciplines to facilitate turnkey projects, including electrical, structural, civil, installation crew, etc.
- Interpret legacy crane drawings and facility drawings for planning upgrades of existing equipment (modernizations).
- Provide technical assistance and support to installation crews and customers.
- Develop detailed technical specifications and procedures for customer use.
- Assist in load testing and functional testing of lifting equipment.
- Self-motivated with leadership abilities.
- Knowledge of ASME, AISC, and CMAA.
- Minimum of a Bachelor's degree in Mechanical, Structural, or Civil Engineering.
- Minimum of five years of related experience.
- Proficiency in Excel, Word, and Solidworks or Pro-E.
- Ability to travel domestically and internationally, including entrance to nuclear power plants.
- Knowledge or exposure to lifting and rigging concepts preferred.
