Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled Senior Electrical Design Engineer to join our team at Beacon EmbeddedWorks. As a key member of our engineering team, you will be responsible for leading electrical design projects and ensuring the delivery of high-quality products to our customers.

Key Responsibilities
  • Lead electrical design projects from concept to delivery, ensuring timely and within-budget completion.
  • Translate product requirements into implementable architectures, performing detailed design work and ensuring the end product is optimized for manufacturability.
  • Conduct design analysis on components and/or assemblies, ensuring designs meet technical requirements and are cost-efficient, manufacturable, and reliable.
  • Perform detailed electronic design of microcontroller and microprocessor-based platforms and related analog/digital circuits, including drawing of circuits using a schematic CAD tool and simulation as appropriate.
  • Conduct design analysis on electrical circuits, ensuring designs will operate reliably across the required range of operating conditions.
  • Gather technical data and prepare technical documents, including design verification test reports, written rework instructions, PCB placement and routing guidelines, and Analysis of Alternatives documents.
  • Maintain organized history of design artifacts using a version control system.
  • Communicate with other engineers and supervising project managers to coordinate and assure project completion.
  • Prepare proposal documentation based on customer specifications.
  • Contribute to electrical design best practices and mentor electrical engineers.
Requirements
  • Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, or equivalent.
  • 8+ years of experience in product design, with pay and title commensurate with experience.
  • Experience with embedded systems and microprocessor-based design.
  • Experience with functional aspects of product design, including requirements understanding, general electrical design analysis, and documentation creation.
  • Experience working in teams, including engineers from multiple engineering disciplines.
  • Working knowledge of oscilloscopes, spectrum analyzers, and vector network analyzers.
  • Protocol-level knowledge of serial interfaces, including SPI, I2C, CAN, and UART.
  • Experience with MS Office products.
  • Ability to work with both internal and external resources.
  • Able to work in a fast-paced environment with quickly changing priorities to ensure superior customer satisfaction.
Preferred Qualifications
  • High-speed digital interfaces, such as DDR, PCIe, SATA, etc.
  • RF communications, such as Bluetooth, 802.11a/b/g/n, Zigbee, GSM, CDMA, or similar.
  • Experience with RFID systems using either active or passive tags.
  • Exposure to medical device design, aerospace design, or other regulated industries.
  • Analog design concepts and design tools, such as SPICE and HyperLynx.
Work Environment

The noise level in the manufacturing area is moderate. Travel is not expected. This is a full-time, on-site position. Typical days and hours of work are Monday through Friday, 8am - 5pm, but does allow for some flexibility. It may be necessary to work more than 40 hours per week at times to produce the required results.
