This role is intended to furnish students with hands-on clinical exposure that encompasses a comprehensive introduction to radiologic imaging across diverse clinical environments. The course aims to enhance and implement knowledge acquired in the Radiographic Positioning and Anatomy courses. It is anticipated that students who have successfully completed the Radiographic Technology core courses will be prepared to utilize their knowledge by operating radiologic equipment and capturing quality radiologic images from the outset of this course.

Reporting Structure:

Adjunct Faculty will report directly to an Academic Dean.

Key Responsibilities:

Adjunct faculty members are primarily accountable for engaging with students and coordinating with Deans or other University personnel concerning educational matters. Faculty are expected to:
  • Provide consistent verbal and written feedback to students regarding their performance throughout the course as outlined in the Faculty Expectations.
  • Be accessible to students through various communication channels for individual consultations as necessary for academic support.
  • Respond promptly to inquiries from Deans/University staff concerning performance, student issues, or documentation required for faculty records/accreditation.
  • Exhibit appropriate conduct, language, professional communication, demeanor, and attire at all times.
Core Accountabilities:

The essential functions of this position include, but are not limited to, the following tasks, duties, and responsibilities consistent with the role. The employee is expected to perform all other duties as requested, directed, and/or assigned. Adjunct faculty will be assigned up to 3 work units per academic quarter.

Teaching Effectiveness: Professionalism, Technology Utilization, and Subject Matter Expertise
  • Engaging Learning Environment
    • Employ effective teaching strategies and diverse instructional techniques; model appropriate learning skills and foster a conducive learning atmosphere.
    • Encourage high levels of student participation through activities, community building, and student-centered learning, including the use of live classroom tools for synchronous learning sessions.
    • Ensure clarity, relevance, and alignment of class session objectives with course performance objectives.
    • Maintain an organized classroom and utilize class time efficiently.
  • Subject Matter Proficiency
    • Demonstrate mastery of the subject and the ability to effectively communicate and relate to students.
    • Contribute significantly to the development and execution of curriculum and assessment in their area of expertise.
  • Student and Institutional Support and Professionalism:
    • Faculty are responsible for establishing a classroom presence that supports students in collaboration with their Dean.
    • Facilitate student support and outreach that promotes student success through availability for synchronous or asynchronous communication and meetings to assist students in achieving course learning objectives.
  • Faculty Meetings and Additional Responsibilities:
    • Faculty will participate in events, programmatic meetings, and committee work as designated by the Dean.
  • Professional Development:
    • Faculty must complete a minimum of six (6) Rasmussen Educational Units (REUs) annually or two (2) REUs per quarter for each quarter they teach (whichever is less) in the combined areas of Teaching Development and Discipline Development as outlined in the faculty handbook.
Qualifications and Experience:
  • Preferred teaching experience (Minimum of 3 years in the relevant field).
  • Preferred clinical preceptor experience.
  • Self-motivated, adaptable, and capable of working collaboratively in a team environment with minimal supervision.
  • Strong interpersonal skills for effective interaction with students, leadership, and peers.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English.
Education, Certifications, and Licensures:
  • Associate's degree in Radiology or Radiologic Technology.
  • Active and unrestricted ARRT certification.
  • 3+ years of clinical and teaching experience in the relevant discipline.
  • Compliance with the requirements set by the Department of Education, accrediting bodies, and state regulations.
  • Ability to provide professional licenses/certifications required for specialized programs before teaching.
  • Adherence to Rasmussen University's policy on faculty immunizations and provision of proper documentation.
  • Provision of official transcripts for each degree earned from an accredited institution prior to teaching.
