Orthopedic Assistant for Clinical Services

Position Summary: The DME Clinical Assistant plays a crucial role in delivering exceptional orthopedic care to patients. This position focuses on optimizing patient-provider interactions to ensure a high standard of acute orthopedic treatment.
Key Responsibilities:
- Deliver outstanding customer service to patients, visitors, and colleagues.
- Prepare patient documentation in the electronic health record system prior to appointments.
- Access and display patient imaging for physician review during consultations.
- Guide patients to examination rooms and complete necessary intake forms according to clinic protocols.
- Prepare patients for their appointments by performing tasks such as removing dressings and assisting with positioning.
- Support physicians during patient visits, including administering injections and assisting with procedures.
- Apply and remove orthopedic casts and durable medical equipment as prescribed by the physician.
- Educate patients on the proper use and maintenance of casts and medical equipment.
- Document all relevant information in the electronic medical record regarding casting and DME.
- Prepare prescriptions, referral notes, and educational materials for patients.
- Ensure patients comprehend the physician's instructions regarding medications and follow-up care.
- Complete necessary workers' compensation forms and ensure proper handling of patient information.
- Maintain cleanliness and organization of examination rooms and equipment.
- Restock supplies in examination rooms and assist in maintaining a safe environment for patient care.
- Handle communications with patients and other departments regarding care and appointments.
- Assist in resolving administrative tasks within the electronic medical record system.
- Adhere to all organizational policies and procedures.
- Perform additional duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
- High School Diploma is required.
- Certification as a Medical Assistant or Registered Medical Assistant is required.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Proficiency in using electronic medical records.
- Ability to meet customer service expectations.
- Capability to work independently under the guidance of a supervisor.
Preferred Experience:
- 1 to 2 years of relevant experience in a clinical setting.
