Your Role at EXP
As a seasoned Electrical Engineer specializing in substations, you will bring a unique combination of expertise and skills to our Energy sector.
Your Work Environment
This position involves engaging in a variety of electrical energy production and transmission initiatives, covering multiple forms of energy generation and distribution. Collaborate with a multidisciplinary team on challenging projects that allow you to demonstrate your technical skills across diverse assignments.
Typical Responsibilities
- Serve as a senior engineer in the design of medium voltage (MV) and high voltage (HV) substations.
- Generate electrical design outputs, including power distribution schematics, power system analyses, protective relay configurations, SCADA, and communication systems.
- Build and maintain relationships with clients, suppliers, and subcontractors.
- Contribute to complex projects within a collaborative team environment.
- Design electrical power systems for various HV transmission and MV distribution projects.
- Participate in the development of electrical systems design, including diagrams, schematics, SCADA, station layouts, and more.
- Conduct power system studies, including load flow, short circuit analysis, and protection coordination.
- Prepare Bills of Materials and collaborate across disciplines for data collection.
- Assist in plan and specification design, project evaluation, and cost analysis.
- Ensure compliance of drawings and data, perform equipment sizing calculations, and oversee quality assurance.
- Work closely with Project Managers to adhere to budgetary constraints and coordinate with clients and other professionals.
- Contribute to the growth of the Energy/substation division.
- Develop service proposals for various project scopes and support business development initiatives.
- Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or a related field.
- Over 8 years of relevant experience, ideally in consulting engineering, utility, or electrical equipment manufacturing.
- Possession of a valid Professional Engineering (PE) license in Virginia and Washington, D.C.
- Familiarity with the US energy market and current industry standards.
- Proficiency in medium- and high-voltage electrical systems and office software applications.
- Strong communication, organizational, creative, and teamwork skills.
- Able to work effectively under pressure, manage multiple projects, and maintain attention to detail.
- Enjoy working collaboratively within diverse teams.
