Position Overview

As a Lead Electrical Systems Engineer, you will leverage your expertise in transformer technology and systems to tackle our most complex projects. This position encompasses a blend of research and development, customer support, and product assistance, with a strong emphasis on problem-solving to enhance our production techniques and product excellence. You will apply your creativity and technical acumen to address intricate challenges through rigorous experimentation and testing. This role offers opportunities for professional growth and skill enhancement while collaborating with a talented team of engineers to achieve project goals.

Key Responsibilities

The primary duties of the Lead Electrical Systems Engineer include, but are not limited to:

  • Leading the design efforts for mechanical and electrical components of transformers;
  • Conducting research on emerging technologies and recommending innovative solutions;
  • Overseeing project planning and design, including resource estimation, timeline management, and cost analysis, while producing functional requirements, engineering drawings, test plans, technical reports, and operational documentation;
  • Building prototypes to validate performance against specifications;
  • Providing technical support for aftersales issues;
  • Collaborating with multidisciplinary engineering teams to develop concepts and innovative solutions, and working with support staff and manufacturing teams to ensure designs are production-ready;
  • Documenting intellectual property and preparing patent applications;
  • Partnering with EHS departments to adhere to safety and design standards while advancing company sustainability objectives;
  • Identifying and establishing relationships with external fabrication suppliers and component vendors;

Qualifications

Basic:
  • B.Sc. in Electrical Engineering or a related field;
  • Ability to adhere to WEG's Code of Ethics & Values;
  • Strong understanding of engineering principles related to machine design, safety, and risk assessment;
  • Experience as a technical contributor throughout the design and development phases;
  • Proven experience in designing transformers for reliability and manufacturability, analyzing gas samples, and constructing complex mechanical and electrical systems;
  • Proficiency with electrical testing equipment, including digital multimeters and oscilloscopes;
  • Familiarity with professional CAD software;
  • Experience in documenting designs, changes, and validation results;
  • Demonstrated initiative in identifying new methods and approaches;
  • Ability to manage multiple projects and tasks effectively;
  • Strong mathematical, verbal, and written communication skills;
  • Proficient in standard office productivity software.
Preferred:
  • 7+ years of engineering experience;
  • Proficiency in AutoCAD;
  • Experience in power quality analysis and troubleshooting;
  • Experience in system design analysis;
  • Current work authorization for employment in the United States.
