Your Role at EXP

As a Senior Substation Electrical Engineer, you will leverage your extensive skills and knowledge in a collaborative setting.

Your Work Environment

This position is embedded within our Energy sector, focusing on a variety of electrical energy production and transmission initiatives, which include multiple forms of energy generation and distribution.

Engage in challenging projects alongside a multidisciplinary team, showcasing your technical expertise across various assignments.

Typical Responsibilities
  • Lead design efforts for medium voltage (MV) and high voltage (HV) substations.
  • Generate electrical design outputs, including power distribution schematics, power system studies, protective relay designs, and SCADA communication schemes.
  • Build and maintain relationships with clients, suppliers, and subcontractors.
  • Contribute to complex projects within a collaborative team environment.
  • Design electrical power systems for diverse HV transmission and MV distribution projects.
  • Participate in the development of electrical systems design, including diagrams, schematics, SCADA, and station layouts.
  • Conduct power system studies, including load flow, short circuit analysis, and protection coordination.
  • Prepare Bill of Materials and collaborate across disciplines for data collection.
  • Assist in plan and specification design, project assessment, and cost evaluation.
  • Ensure compliance of drawings and data, perform equipment sizing calculations, and oversee quality assurance.
  • Work with Project Managers to adhere to budgetary constraints and coordinate with clients and other professionals.
  • Support the growth of the Energy/substation division within the US.
  • Develop service proposals for various project scopes and assist in business development efforts.
Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or a related field.
  • Over 8 years of relevant experience, ideally in consulting engineering, utility, or electrical equipment manufacturing.
  • Valid Professional Engineering (PE) license in Virginia and Washington, D.C.
  • Familiarity with the US energy market and current industry standards.
  • Proficiency in medium- and high-voltage electrical systems and Office software applications.
  • Strong communication skills, organizational abilities, creativity, and teamwork orientation.
  • Able to work effectively under pressure, manage multiple projects, and demonstrate attention to detail.
  • Enjoy collaborating within diverse teams.
The compensation range for this position is between $150,000 and $200,000, with packages tailored to individual candidates based on skills, experience, certifications, and location considerations. Variations in compensation may occur due to differing labor costs in various regions.
