Overview:
US Facilities, Inc. is seeking a dedicated Communications Specialist to enhance our public engagement efforts. This role involves a variety of responsibilities aimed at ensuring the highest quality of communication and documentation within our organization.
Key Responsibilities:
- Conduct meticulous scientific editing, technical writing, and document layout utilizing advanced PC technology across various domains including infrastructure, environmental concerns, safety protocols, planning, and policy development.
- Guarantee that all scientific reports, academic articles, legislative documents, and other intricate publications produced meet the highest standards for external dissemination to both national and international audiences.
- Oversee the publication process for our research initiatives, guiding documents through editing, review, revision, and final approval stages.
- Provide consultation and guidance to staff, academic partners, students, and external collaborators on the organization, style, scientific accuracy, and formatting of complex engineering and research documents.
- Manage communication channels and publication content as assigned, ensuring clarity and consistency in messaging.
- Establish and nurture relationships with various stakeholders to enhance communication strategies.
- Innovate new communication methods to improve overall engagement and information dissemination.
- Act as a spokesperson or publication writer/editor as required, providing timely information to media outlets.
- Develop key messages and talking points on current and emerging issues.
- Maintain and update media contact lists and publication records.
- Perform additional duties as assigned by management.
Qualifications:
Education:
High School diploma or equivalent required.
Experience and Skills:
- Proficient in managing large, complex documents that include numerical data, tables, and visual elements.
- Exceptional writing skills tailored for diverse audiences and formats.
- Adept at synthesizing complex information into clear, concise content.
- Strong editing capabilities with a solid understanding of AP style guidelines.
- Familiarity with communication theories and methods relevant to public and media relations.
- Advanced proficiency in document processing software, including features for editing complex documents.
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively with various teams.
- Significant experience in scientific editing and technical writing across multiple disciplines.
- Experience in managing publication processes under tight deadlines.
- Knowledge of advanced desktop publishing tools is highly desirable.
Work Environment:
Successful candidates will undergo reference checks and verification of work history. Compliance with industry training and a probationary period may apply. A valid driver's license is mandatory, and candidates will be subject to a DMV records check, pre-employment drug screening, and a criminal history records check.
