About the Role:
The Commonwealth of Virginia is seeking Procurement Specialists and Senior Procurement Specialists to become integral members of the Procurement team. This team is dedicated to providing purchasing services to various stakeholders across multiple categories. Ideal candidates will possess a background in procurement, operations, and contract negotiation. They should demonstrate the ability to evaluate business risks, engage in strategic thinking, and communicate effectively with various stakeholders. Key Responsibilities:
  • Procurement Management (60%) Procurement Specialists: Execute comprehensive procurement functions while collaborating with stakeholders, ensuring adherence to regulations and organizational policies. Assist departments with procurement inquiries, contract management, and vendor service issues. Manage contracts, analyze purchasing patterns, and prioritize customer satisfaction. Senior Procurement Specialists: Serve as the primary contact for senior management, lead high-value sourcing initiatives, and conduct market analysis.
  • Process Enhancement (30%) Procurement Specialists: Collaborate with stakeholders to refine purchasing practices, assess business performance, and create tools for operational effectiveness. Senior Procurement Specialists: Analyze market trends, optimize purchasing practices, and assist in the training of Procurement Specialists.
  • Project Coordination/Special Assignments (10%) Procurement Specialists: Complete assigned tasks and special projects efficiently and with high quality. Senior Procurement Specialists: Oversee long-term projects, establish project objectives, analyze results, and implement solutions.
Qualifications:
  • Education: A bachelor's degree is required for Procurement Specialists, while Senior Procurement Specialists must have a bachelor's degree along with relevant experience.
  • Experience: A minimum of two years for Procurement Specialists and four years for Senior Procurement Specialists in fields such as Purchasing, Procurement, or Supply Chain Management.

    Certifications: Certified Purchasing Manager (CPM) or similar certification is preferred.
  • Compensation Range:
    Procurement Specialists: $55,000 - $70,000 annually
    Senior Procurement Specialists: $75,000 - $88,000 annually
