Job Title: Sleep Study Specialist

As a sleep study specialist at our dedicated sleep disorders facility, your primary role will be to deliver exceptional patient care and outstanding service under the guidance of a physician. Below are some of the essential responsibilities you will undertake:

  • Prepare patients for diagnostic evaluations in accordance with established protocols.
  • Inform patients about the procedures conducted in the sleep laboratory.
  • Precisely score and interpret sleep studies.
  • Assess the functionality of equipment to ensure optimal performance.
  • Independently administer therapeutic interventions and treatments.
  • Take ownership of your designated work area.
  • Engage in professional development and ongoing education within the sleep disorders unit.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Education: Bachelor’s Degree or a minimum of 6 months of pertinent experience in a related discipline (such as Sleep EEG Respiratory Therapy or similar).
  • Experience: Practical experience required to achieve licensure as a Sleep Study Specialist in Virginia.
  • Licensure: Must be licensed as a Sleep Study Specialist by the Virginia Board of Medicine, or hold equivalent certifications recognized by accreditation standards.

Physical Requirements:

This position entails prolonged periods of sitting, frequent travel, and repetitive use of computer and mouse. Strong communication, auditory, and visual skills are essential, along with attention to detail and the ability to articulate clearly in writing. Additionally, you should be capable of lifting, pushing, pulling, and transferring patients, while being aware of potential exposure to various elements such as fumes, chemicals, and infectious diseases.
