Position Summary

The Sales Counter Specialist plays a vital role at our wholesale HVAC distribution centers, representing a variety of equipment, components, and supplies. This position is centered around delivering exceptional customer service in a sales-driven environment.

Key Responsibilities

The responsibilities of this role include, but are not limited to:

  • Act as a representative of Baker Distributing Company, ensuring industry-leading sales performance.
  • Engage with both internal and external sales teams, suppliers, and contractors.
  • Oversee showroom presentation and manage product replenishment.
  • Assist in addressing customer service issues with dealers and end-users.
  • Facilitate the sales order process for clients while promoting additional products.
  • Serve walk-in and phone customers, aiding in sourcing and shipping parts, as well as managing inventory and warranty claims.
  • Identify customer product and service requirements by researching through various resources.
  • Organize stock on display shelves and maintain orderliness of merchandise.
  • Utilize suggestive selling techniques to enhance sales opportunities with current and potential customers.
  • Conduct follow-up sales or service calls and resolve customer inquiries.

Qualifications

  • High School Diploma or GED is required.
  • The ideal candidate will possess strong communication skills, a solid background in technical support, HVAC components, and customer service/sales, along with intermediate proficiency in MS Office.
  • Experience in Customer Service, Data Entry, Estimating, Purchase Orders, Sales, and Shipping/Receiving is beneficial.
  • A minimum of 1 year of experience in a Counter Sales position, preferably within the HVAC sector.
  • Knowledge of air conditioning, heating, and ventilation systems at a wholesale distribution level is essential.
  • Strong interpersonal skills, including sales acumen, problem-solving abilities, and a customer service focus, are crucial.
  • Ability to work independently while achieving set goals and objectives within specified timeframes.
  • Capable of thriving in a fast-paced environment with multitasking skills.
  • Exemplary customer service orientation with the capacity to foster long-term relationships.
  • Outstanding written and verbal communication skills.
  • Creative problem-solving capabilities.
  • Ability to work both independently and collaboratively in a team setting.
  • Must hold and maintain a valid Driver's License.
  • Proficiency in speaking, reading, and understanding English is necessary to comply with safety standards, training, policies, and procedures.
