Qualifications and Experience:
OVERVIEW:
This role is designed for a Software Release Specialist who possesses a strong background in managing pull requests and is proficient in Python or similar scripting languages. The position demands exceptional multitasking skills to handle incidents across various communication platforms until resolution is achieved. You will be part of a team dedicated to developing and supporting IS&T's Mobile Applications, which encompass eCommerce mobile solutions, retail and carrier services applications, as well as applications for retail stores.

ROLE SUMMARY:
We are looking for a seasoned Software Release Specialist to join our team, playing a crucial role in overseeing and refining our software release methodologies. The ideal candidate will have extensive experience with Git/GitHub, GitOps, and Git branching techniques, with the capability to establish guidelines and manage branch creation effectively. Responsibilities include executing release cutovers, orchestrating events, and collaborating with diverse teams such as development, quality assurance, operations, and project management to efficiently address issues. Attention to detail is paramount in this position. The candidate should be technically skilled, with scripting capabilities in Python or command-line operations for Git. You will also be tasked with conducting technical evaluations, leading discussions within performance and DevOps teams, and making significant technical choices. Regular meetings, both in-person and virtual, will be part of your daily activities. Your responsibilities will also involve monitoring action tickets, ensuring uniformity, and resolving production challenges.

KEY ATTRIBUTES FOR SUCCESS:
  • 5+ years of Software Release Engineering experience
    • Proficiency in Python (preferred) and familiarity with other scripting languages
    • Expertise in automation and release engineering practices
    • Ability to gather and track data related to each release
  • GitOps Proficiency
    • Hands-on experience with Git/GitHub, GitOps, and Git branching strategies (capable of creating a branch from day one), establishing guidelines for Git milestones and labels.
  • Experience with Technical Evaluations and Follow-up Actions
    • Make essential technical decisions and initiate follow-up tasks
    • Create tickets to monitor technical decisions and their outcomes
    • Coordinate and track follow-up actions resulting from evaluations
    • Manage tickets and communication channels for follow-up actions
