Aerial Emergency Medical Technician

Overview
The Aerial Emergency Medical Technician is responsible for delivering urgent medical assistance to patients across various age groups, including neonates, infants, children, adolescents, adults, and the elderly. This role requires the ability to identify and manage critical emergencies, execute advanced medical procedures, and make informed decisions while maintaining safety standards in challenging environments.
Key Responsibilities
Patient Care
* Evaluates the health status and requirements of assigned patients by collecting pertinent medical information.
Expert in life-saving techniques, including advanced airway management, endotracheal intubation, ventilator operation, and chest decompression.
Possesses comprehensive knowledge of pharmacological agents and demonstrates the ability to administer medications safely.
Operates with a significant degree of independence.
Delivers critical care to patients across all demographics and specialties, including adult and pediatric critical care, as well as high-risk obstetrics.
Communication
* Accepts assignments to various operational bases.
Collaborates effectively with colleagues, hospital personnel, emergency medical services, and other stakeholders.
Advocates for the organization during public relations events and in everyday interactions with community members, hospital staff, emergency services, patients, and their families.
Documentation
* Accurately records the care provided in the electronic medical record (EMR).
Equipment Management
* Conducts daily inspections to ensure all medical equipment and supplies are available and functioning properly on the aircraft and at the operational base following each transport.
Responsible for reporting and returning malfunctioning equipment for repair.
Demonstrates an understanding of aviation safety protocols as a crew member on both fixed-wing and rotor-wing aircraft.
Compliance and Safety
* Reports any safety-related incidents promptly using the designated reporting tools; participates in all safety training programs; performs duties in a safe manner; monitors the work environment for potential safety hazards and ensures compliance among colleagues.
Maintains up-to-date knowledge of state and federal regulations, as well as company policies relevant to the role.
Ensures all necessary certifications and licenses are current and valid prior to expiration.
Completes all mandatory training modules and job-specific training within the designated time frame.
Stays informed about developments in pre-hospital, emergency, critical care, perinatal, and pediatric medicine.
Engages in at least one base responsibility or committee.
Qualifications
Education
High School Diploma or GED - Required
- Certification & Licensures
Arizona certification as a Certified Emergency Paramedic (EMCT-P) - Required - BLS, ACLS & PALS (American Heart Association) - Required
- National Registry Paramedic - Required
- Neonatal Resuscitation Provider - Required within 6 months of hire
- STABLE course completion - Required within 1 year of hire
- TPATC - Required within 1 year of hire (6 month grace period for renewal)
- Advanced FP-C - Required within 2 years of hire (Preferred within 18 months)
- Valid Driver's License and a clean Motor Vehicle Record (MVR) - Required
Experience
Minimum of 3 years of experience as a Paramedic - Required
Previous experience in air medical services - Preferred
Healthcare is a dynamic field where technology plays a crucial role in patient care. Proficiency in using computers and basic software applications is essential.
