Position Overview

Northern Impact, a nationally recognized engineering firm, is on the lookout for a dedicated Senior Municipal Engineer. This role involves collaborating with an expanding civil engineering team on a wide range of projects.

Current project initiatives encompass civil site development for both new and redevelopment ventures, grading design, stormwater management (including hydraulic and hydrologic design, certification, and permitting), as well as evaluations, rehabilitation, and design of sanitary and storm sewer systems. Additional responsibilities include domestic water distribution design, low-impact development, and the integration of green infrastructure solutions.

Key Responsibilities

- Engage actively in the project planning and design phases, which includes data collection and field assessments, along with the development of design and feasibility studies, plans, specifications, cost estimates, and design reports.

- Serve as the technical reviewer for all project outputs and design calculations within the Civil Engineering Group.

- Offer technical support and guidance to Civil Group personnel involved in construction management tasks, such as submittal reviews, information requests, and change order processing.

- Facilitate and encourage mentoring opportunities for other team members, including cross-training and succession planning.

- Undertake additional duties as assigned.

Qualifications

- A minimum of 15 years of experience in the engineering sector.

- Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering.

- Strong technical design capabilities.

- Professional Engineer (PE) license in Minnesota, Illinois, or Wisconsin.

- Proficient problem-solving skills.

- Ability to conduct thorough technical reviews of work completed by others, ensuring high-quality control of submissions.

- A valid driver’s license with a clean driving record.

Preferred Qualifications

- Professional Engineer (PE) license in additional states, or willingness to obtain (with priority given to Wisconsin, Minnesota, and Illinois).

- Additional certifications relevant to your areas of expertise and interest.

- Proficiency in civil engineering design software, including Civil3D, MicroStation, GIS, Excel, and stormwater modeling software such as SLAMM, HEC-RAS, HydroCAD, and C3D Storm and Sanitary extensions.
