The HR Generalist plays a pivotal role in delivering HR support and spearheading HR initiatives for Newell Brands GSC - Distribution and Transportation.

In partnership with the Distribution team and leaders at the Distribution Center, this role assesses the talent requirements of the Distribution division and formulates suitable strategies.

The Human Resource Generalist will oversee the daily operations of the Human Resource (HR) department, which encompasses hiring and interviewing personnel, managing compensation, benefits, and leave, as well as upholding company policies and practices.


Key Responsibilities:
Monitor, document, and ensure compliance with both mandatory and optional training, ongoing education, and work assessments. This may involve safety training, anti-harassment education, professional licensure, and competency exams and certifications.

Source, interview, and facilitate the recruitment of qualified candidates for open roles; collaborate with departmental managers to identify the skills and competencies necessary for vacancies.

Conduct or arrange background checks and verify employee eligibility.
Implement orientation programs for new hires and temporary staff, along with employee recognition initiatives.

Execute routine tasks essential for administering and implementing human resource programs, including but not limited to compensation, benefits, leave management, disciplinary actions, disputes and investigations, performance and talent management, productivity, recognition, morale, occupational health and safety, and training and development.

Address employment-related inquiries from applicants, employees, and supervisors, escalating complex or sensitive issues to the appropriate personnel.
Participate in employee disciplinary meetings, terminations, and investigations.

Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local employment laws and regulations, along with recommended best practices; review policies and practices to maintain compliance.

Stay informed about trends, best practices, regulatory changes, and new technologies in human resources, talent management, and employment law.
Perform additional duties as assigned.

Required Skills and Abilities:

Education and Experience:
A Bachelor's degree in human resources, Business Administration, or a related field is required.
A minimum of two years of experience in human resource management.
SHRM-CP certification is a plus.

Physical Requirements:
Extended periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer.
Ability to lift up to 20 pounds occasionally.
Must be able to navigate each department within the Distribution Center facilities.
