Job Summary

The City of Reno is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Director of Human Resources to lead our Human Resources Department. As a key member of our management team, you will be responsible for developing and implementing HR strategies that align with our organizational goals and objectives.

Key Responsibilities
  • Develop and implement HR policies, procedures, and programs that support the City's mission and goals.
  • Provide strategic guidance and support to management and employees on HR-related matters.
  • Manage and direct the Human Resources Department, including supervising and evaluating staff.
  • Develop and administer the department budget, including forecasting and managing expenditures.
  • Coordinate and participate in labor negotiations, including contract development and implementation.
  • Provide guidance and support on employee relations, including disciplinary actions and grievances.
  • Develop and maintain relationships with external stakeholders, including unions, community groups, and other organizations.
Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or related field.
  • Minimum 10 years of experience in human resources, including 3 years of public sector management and administrative responsibility.
  • Strong knowledge of HR principles, practices, and laws, including labor relations and collective bargaining.
  • Excellent communication, interpersonal, and leadership skills.
  • Ability to analyze complex problems and develop effective solutions.
