Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled and detail-oriented Human Resources Technician to join our team at the City of Reno. The successful candidate will provide administrative support to the Human Resources department, ensuring the smooth operation of various programs and functions.

Key Responsibilities
  • Perform a variety of technical, programmatic, and administrative duties in support of assigned human resources programs and functions.
  • Participate in recruitment and selection, classification and compensation, and benefits administration.
  • Coordinate activities with other City departments and divisions, outside agencies, and the general public.
  • Supervise, train, and oversee the work of assigned clerical support staff.
  • Administer assigned benefit programs, including insurance, deferred compensation, retirement, and other employee benefits.
  • Perform insurance audits and eligibility reviews, and develop and prepare employee premium notices.
  • Coordinate services and program/project activities with other City programs, functions, departments, and staff.
Requirements
  • Equivalent to completion of the twelfth grade supplemented by coursework in human resources management, benefit administration, or a related field.
  • Three years of increasingly responsible technical, administrative, and advanced level clerical experience in a human resources program area.
  • Ability to learn, read, interpret, apply, and explain a variety of written information governing human resources programs.
  • Ability to perform responsible and difficult para-professional and professional analytical, programmatic, and administrative duties.
Working Conditions

The work environment is primarily a standard office setting. The physical demands of the job require sufficient physical ability and mobility to work in an office setting, to stand or sit for prolonged periods of time, and to occasionally stoop, bend, kneel, crouch, reach, and twist.
