SUMMARY
The Fleet Maintenance Assistant plays a vital role within our organization. Under the guidance of the Fleet Manager, this position is tasked with conducting fleet inspections, executing basic maintenance tasks, and performing preventative diagnostics and repairs. Additional responsibilities encompass vehicle shuttling, light detailing, and outfitting vehicles. The individual will work collaboratively with warehouse staff, management, and external vendors to ensure efficient and thorough execution of all duties.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Key responsibilities include:
- Conducting routine inspections, such as brake and tire checks, fluid level assessments, electrical testing, and engine diagnostics.
- Performing basic maintenance tasks, including oil changes, service checks, brake and electrical repairs, battery replacements, tune-ups, and transmission services.
- Diagnosing and repairing small gasoline and diesel engines, including generators, compressors, and forklifts.
- Transporting vehicles to and from external repair facilities.
- Coordinating vehicle assignments with drivers as needed.
- Building and outfitting new fleet vehicles with necessary equipment.
- Accurately installing and removing vehicle logos and decals.
- Providing light detailing services for fleet vehicles.
- Tracking and reporting parts usage while maintaining inventory levels.
- Inspecting vehicles for defects before and after trips and submitting condition reports.
- Assisting with loading and unloading of trucks when necessary.
- Maintaining accurate inventory records.
- Committing to a standard 40-hour work week, with potential for overtime.
- Adhering to traffic laws and representing the company positively.
- Regular attendance is mandatory.
- Performing additional duties as required.
QUALIFICATIONS
To succeed in this role, candidates must meet the following qualifications:
- Willingness to enroll with the union.
- Ability to pass a drug screening.
- Capability to learn and operate company tools and materials.
REQUIRED ATTRIBUTES
- Minimum one year of experience in the automotive repair industry.
- Completion of automotive classes or technical school, or equivalent experience.
- Maintaining a clean driving record is essential.
- Strong mechanical understanding of vehicle maintenance and OBD2 systems.
- Demonstrating integrity, professionalism, and commitment to company values.
- Ability to foster positive working relationships across various levels of the organization.
- Detail-oriented and safety-conscious.
- High school diploma or equivalent experience is required.
LANGUAGE SKILLS
Effective communication in English is essential, with the ability to collaborate with customers, employees, unions, and vendors.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS
The physical requirements for this position include the ability to commute to various job sites and navigate effectively.
WORK ENVIRONMENT
Employees may work outdoors and be exposed to various environmental conditions, including humidity, dust, fumes, and temperature fluctuations. The noise level in the work environment can range from moderate to loud.

Compensation Range: $22-26/hour
