Our project teams comprise specialists in the design, installation, commissioning, and maintenance of tele-data communications, audio/video systems, process control, building management, and fire/safety installations.
SUMMARY
The Fleet Maintenance Assistant plays a crucial role within EMCOR Government Services. Under the guidance of the Fleet Manager, this position is tasked with conducting fleet inspections, executing basic maintenance tasks, and performing preventative diagnostics and repairs. Additional responsibilities encompass vehicle shuttling, light vehicle detailing, and outfitting vehicles. The individual will work collaboratively with warehouse staff, management, and external vendors to ensure all aspects of the role are executed efficiently and effectively.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Key responsibilities include:
- Conducting routine inspections, including brake and tire assessments, fluid level checks, electrical testing, and engine diagnostics.
- Executing basic maintenance tasks such as oil changes, servicing, brake repairs, electrical repairs, battery replacements, tune-ups, and transmission services.
- Diagnosing and repairing small gasoline and diesel engines, including generators, compressors, and forklifts.
- Transporting vehicles to and from external repair facilities.
- Delivering vehicles to their assigned drivers as necessary.
- Building and outfitting new fleet vehicles with toolboxes, inverters, and alarm systems.
- Accurately installing and removing vehicle logos and decals.
- Performing light detailing on fleet vehicles.
- Tracking and reporting parts usage, maintaining necessary inventory levels.
- Inspecting trucks for defects before and after trips and submitting reports on truck conditions.
- Assisting in loading and unloading trucks as needed.
- Maintaining inventory records.
- Working a standard 40-hour work week, with occasional overtime.
- Adhering to all traffic laws and maintaining a positive representation of the company.
- Regular attendance is mandatory.
- Performing other duties as assigned.
QUALIFICATIONS
To succeed in this role, candidates must demonstrate the ability to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The following qualifications are required:
- Enrollment with the union is mandatory.
- Ability to pass a drug screening.
- Capability to learn and operate company tools and handle materials.
REQUIRED ATTRIBUTES
- One year of on-the-job experience in the automotive repair industry.
- Completion of one year of automotive classes or technical school, or equivalent experience.
- Maintaining a clean driving record is essential.
- Strong mechanical knowledge of vehicle maintenance operations and OBD2 systems.
- Demonstrating integrity, honesty, professionalism, and commitment to company values.
- Ability to build positive working relationships with employees, management, customers, and partners.
- Detail-oriented and safety-conscious.
- High school diploma or equivalent experience.
LANGUAGE SKILLS
Effective communication skills in English are required, with the ability to cooperate and collaborate with various stakeholders, including customers, employees, unions, government agencies, vendors, and other contractors.

Compensation Range: $22-26/hour
The compensation range is dependent on various factors, including skill sets, experience, training, licensure, certifications, and other business needs.
