Job Overview

Position Summary: The Financial Reporting Specialist is responsible for the accurate and timely preparation of financial documentation and analysis to support organizational objectives.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Generate and disseminate monthly financial reports to relevant stakeholders, ensuring thorough analysis and resolution of any discrepancies.
  • Utilize financial management systems to deliver comprehensive data to departmental leadership, encompassing daily operations, periodic reviews, and special financial assessments.
  • Conduct in-depth data analysis using advanced Excel functions to evaluate spending trends, budget variances, and financial forecasts, ensuring that leadership receives precise and impartial insights.
  • Assist in the development and oversight of financial records, including grant applications, contracts, and sponsor invoices, while managing ongoing reporting requirements.
  • Maintain meticulous records of program expenditures and prepare detailed expenditure reports.
  • Compile foundational data and documentation necessary for program and grant oversight.
  • Collaborate with program coordinators to monitor and align program activities with budgetary expectations.
  • Support the Senior Financial Manager and Department Administration in the preparation for financial audits.
  • Execute daily financial operations, including reviewing and processing disbursement requests and reimbursements.
  • Aggregate financial data and produce reports and invoices as directed.
  • Manage special projects as assigned.

Qualifications:

  • Proficient in Excel, with demonstrated experience in data manipulation, forecasting, and advanced functions.
  • A minimum of four years of experience in data analytics, payroll, and financial systems is required.
  • Ability to independently generate reports and analyze multiple data sets.
  • Strong organizational skills with the capacity to prioritize tasks and work autonomously.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, capable of conveying financial information to non-financial audiences while providing exceptional customer service.
  • Maintain confidentiality and discretion regarding sensitive information.
  • Comprehensive understanding of administrative operations, accounting principles, and financial reporting standards.
  • Ability to perform the physical demands of the role, including frequent use of a calculator and computer keyboard.
  • Willingness to participate in required training and professional development opportunities.
  • Familiarity with local, state, and federal funding regulations and requirements.

Minimum Education:

  • Associate's Degree in Accounting or Business Administration.
  • 3-5 years of experience in grants management, contract reporting, bookkeeping, and general accounting, or equivalent education and experience.
