About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Director, Asset Management to join our team at Choice Hotels. As a key member of our asset management team, you will be responsible for overseeing a portfolio of hotels and driving profitability through strategic oversight, capital investment, and operational excellence.

Key Responsibilities
  • Oversee market, operations, capital strategy, and reporting for a portfolio of hotels.
  • Develop and maintain strategic plans for each asset in the assigned portfolio, in partnership with the Investments team and Segment leadership.
  • Assist in the development of a 5-year capital plan for each asset, aligning with the hotel's current needs and Choice's long-term ownership strategy.
  • Review and approve annual operating and capital budgets for each property.
  • Stay current on market conditions affecting the assigned portfolio.
  • Partner with hotel management teams to analyze operations and drive net operating income through optimal revenue management, cost controls, and guest satisfaction efforts.
  • Make recommendations for capital improvement ROI projects and comprehensive property improvement plans.
  • Identify opportunities to recycle capital, balancing returns and brand needs, and lead the disposition process.
  • Ensure accurate, timely, and actionable asset and portfolio-level reporting and benchmarking.
  • Present findings to Segment and executive leadership on a regular basis.
  • Assist the Investments team with underwriting for acquisitions or new construction opportunities.
  • Create strong relationships with internal and external partners.
  • Coach and mentor direct reports and junior team members.
Requirements
  • At least 8+ years of progressive experience in hotel asset management, hotel ownership, or hotel operations.
  • Significant experience analyzing hotel operations, identifying opportunities, and driving profitability.
  • Strong financial background with an understanding of real estate deal structures.
  • Ideal experience with overseeing capital improvement projects.
  • Ability to coach and oversee a team with varying levels of experience.
  • Comfortable making decisions and being accountable for outcomes.
  • Self-starter with willingness and ability to excel in a deadline-driven, high-volume environment.
  • Strong problem-solving, communication, and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to explain complex information succinctly and clearly to senior leadership.
  • Willingness to travel up to 10% of the time, occasionally with limited notice.
