Position Summary
The Corporate Relations Manager plays a pivotal role in expanding and nurturing a network of corporate partners and supporters, with an emphasis on enhancing A Wider Circle's philanthropic contributions. This position is tasked with structuring and securing corporate donations and sponsorships through a comprehensive outreach strategy that encompasses identification, relationship cultivation, solicitation, and stewardship. The goal is to align corporate partners with the mission, values, and objectives of A Wider Circle, in line with the organization's community engagement initiatives.
Key Responsibilities
The Corporate Relations Manager will be responsible for the following tasks:
- Act as an essential member of the Development Team, contributing to annual institutional giving goals by actively managing and engaging a portfolio of high-value corporate donors and prospects.
- Collaborate with the Development Director to establish guidelines and metrics for annual fundraising objectives.
- Oversee the identification, research, and management of a pipeline of potential corporate sponsors and donors.
- Develop and implement stewardship strategies for major corporate sponsors.
- In partnership with the Development Director, create and oversee A Wider Circle's corporate partnership program, including various giving levels and associated benefits.
- Coordinate with communications staff to ensure that all external communications materials adhere to organizational branding standards.
- Engage potential corporate donors with A Wider Circle's mission and vision, remaining informed about programmatic needs and priorities.
- Work closely with the Development Director and the Director of Grants and Contracts to prepare proposals, materials, and donor-centric correspondence to enhance engagement within the corporate sponsorship portfolio.
- Support the Volunteer Team in involving corporate volunteers, including participation in volunteer activities and representing A Wider Circle at outreach events.
- Monitor corporate-related aspects of annual events, coordinating with event leads to solicit sponsorships and manage related logistics.
- Maintain accurate and up-to-date records in the donor database.
Ideal Candidate Profile
The successful candidate for the Corporate Relations Manager position will possess:
- A proven track record of effectively engaging and managing corporate partners to increase contributions.
- A community-focused approach to fundraising, with the ability to understand corporate prospects' interests and connect them to A Wider Circle's priorities.
- Strong communication skills and the ability to interact effectively both externally and internally through excellent interpersonal abilities.
- The capacity to thrive in a collaborative, team-oriented environment while also demonstrating the self-motivation to work independently.
- A genuine passion for A Wider Circle's mission and a commitment to advancing organizational priorities.
Preferred Qualifications
- 2-3 years of experience in development or a related field, with a focus on corporate relations preferred.
- Familiarity with philanthropic communities and interests in the greater Washington, DC area is advantageous.
- Expertise in corporate funding models and approaches throughout the gift cycle.
- Ability to work collaboratively with volunteers in a professional manner.
- Strong presentation skills and the ability to address questions and concerns effectively.
- Proficiency in Google Workspace tools and/or the ability to learn new technology systems.
- Knowledge of CRM systems is a plus.
Work Environment
This position is based in an office setting.
Travel Requirements
Travel within the DMV area is required.
