Job Overview

POSITION SUMMARY:

The Landscape Construction Superintendent is essential in executing and overseeing top-tier landscape development projects. This role entails leading various teams, providing daily updates to Project Managers, Construction Managers, designers, and ensuring quality assurance throughout the project lifecycle.

Compensation: $70,000-$85,000

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

Landscape Installation Excellence

  • Precisely implements projects in alignment with plans and financial parameters.
  • Thoroughly reviews and adheres to: blueprints, grading specifications, irrigation designs, planting schemes, construction documents, proposals, and budgets.
  • Establishes grades and levels utilizing advanced tools such as lasers or zip levels.
  • Engages with Project Managers, Construction Managers, and other stakeholders throughout the project.
  • Delivers exceptional customer service with a focus on quality.

Quality Assurance

  • Conducts inspections on all assigned projects, identifying and resolving issues. Escalates significant concerns to the designated Project Manager.
  • Oversees the execution of assigned projects, ensuring adherence to timelines and budgets.
  • Communicates project status, advancements, and challenges to Project & Construction Managers in a timely manner.
  • Visits job sites daily to meet with Foremen, gathering project updates and providing assistance as needed.
  • Monitors subcontractor performance to guarantee quality and timely completion of tasks.

Team and Project Leadership

  • Supervises frontline teams, ensuring compliance with budgetary constraints.
  • Collaborates with Project Managers, Construction Managers, and other stakeholders to formulate action plans.
  • Manages equipment deployment on projects, including storage, maintenance, and security measures, ensuring all services meet contractual specifications within budget and schedule.
  • Assists Construction Managers with onsite coaching, evaluating, and training teams in best practices for landscape construction.

Time Management

  • Reports hours and project developments through designated channels.
  • Maintains accurate daily timekeeping using timekeeping software.
  • Submits timecards to internal stakeholders consistently.
  • Leads teams to ensure projects remain within the allocated hours budget.

Training, Development, and Safety Compliance

  • Identifies training requirements for frontline crew members.
  • Ensures adherence to all safety and Lifecare standards, addressing and reporting unsafe conditions promptly.
  • Analyzes employee safety data to promote safe working practices and conditions, ensuring attendance at weekly safety meetings.
  • Conducts weekly inventories of trucks and trailers with assigned teams.
  • Ensures proper maintenance of equipment and tools.
  • Evaluates equipment usage and recommends future acquisitions of tools and machinery.

Snow Management

  • Maintains a 24-hour on-call status during snow seasons.
  • Operates snow removal machinery effectively.
  • Performs snow clearing tasks in designated areas as assigned.

Required Training and Certifications:

  • OSHA-10 or higher (preferred).
  • Bilingual (English/Spanish) (preferred).

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Horticulture, Construction, or a related field; or 8 years of combined education and experience in lieu of a degree.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (creating and editing documents in Word, managing emails in Outlook, and updating Excel spreadsheets).
  • Familiarity with construction software and job documentation (entering and reviewing timecards, production reporting, forecasting, managing subcontractors and materials).
  • Ability to read, write, and communicate effectively in English.
  • Ability to understand and communicate in Spanish (preferred).
  • Capable of interpreting construction plans, job documentation, and verbal instructions.
  • Competent in executing all aspects of landscape, hardscape, and irrigation construction.
