Job Overview

POSITION SUMMARY:

The Landscape Construction Superintendent is crucial in executing and overseeing premium landscape development projects. This role entails leading various teams, ensuring seamless communication with Project Managers, Construction Managers, designers, and quality assurance personnel on a daily basis.

Compensation: $70,000-$85,000

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

Landscape Installation Excellence

  • Precisely implements projects in accordance with established plans and financial guidelines.
  • Thoroughly reviews and adheres to: blueprints, grading specifications, irrigation layouts, planting designs, construction schematics, proposals, and budgets.
  • Utilizes laser or zip level for establishing grades and levels.
  • Engages with Project Managers, Construction Managers, and other stakeholders throughout the project lifecycle.
  • Delivers exceptional customer service with a focus on quality.

Quality Assurance

  • Conducts inspections on all assigned projects, identifying and resolving issues as they arise. Escalates significant concerns to the designated Project Manager.
  • Monitors the progress of assigned projects, ensuring adherence to timelines and budgets.
  • Communicates project status, advancements, and challenges to Project & Construction Managers in a timely manner.
  • Regularly visits job sites to meet with Foremen, gathering updates and providing assistance as needed.
  • Oversees subcontractors to guarantee high-quality work and timely project completion.

Team and Project Leadership

  • Supervises frontline teams, ensuring compliance with budgetary constraints.
  • Collaborates with Project Managers, Construction Managers, and other stakeholders to formulate actionable plans.
  • Manages equipment usage on projects, including storage, maintenance, and security, ensuring all services are delivered per contract specifications, within budget and on schedule.
  • Assists Construction Managers with on-site coaching, evaluation, and training of frontline teams in best practices for landscape construction.

Time Management

  • Reports hours worked and project progress through designated channels.
  • Maintains precise daily timekeeping using timekeeping software.
  • Submits accurate timecards to internal stakeholders daily.
  • Directs crew activities to ensure projects remain within the allocated hours budget.

Training, Development, and Safety Compliance

  • Identifies training requirements for frontline crew members.
  • Ensures adherence to all safety and Lifescape standards, promptly addressing and reporting unsafe conditions.
  • Analyzes employee safety data to promote safe work practices and conditions, ensuring attendance at weekly safety meetings.
  • Conducts weekly inventories of trucks and trailers with assigned crews.
  • Ensures proper maintenance of equipment and tools.
  • Evaluates equipment usage and recommends future purchases of tools and equipment.

Snow Management Responsibilities

  • Maintains a 24-hour on-call status during the snow season.
  • Operates snow removal equipment effectively.
  • Performs snow removal tasks, including plowing, shoveling, blowing, and applying ice melt in designated areas.

Required Training and Certifications:

  • OSHA-10 or higher (preferred).
  • Bilingual (English/Spanish) (preferred).

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Horticulture, Construction, or a related field; or 8 years of combined education and experience in lieu of a degree.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (ability to create and edit documents in Word, manage emails in Outlook, and update Excel spreadsheets).
  • Familiarity with construction software and job packs (including timecard entry, production reporting, forecasting, and managing subcontractors and materials).
  • Ability to read, write, and speak English fluently.
  • Ability to understand and communicate in Spanish (preferred).
  • Proficient in reading and interpreting construction plans, job packs, and verbal instructions.
  • Capable of performing all aspects of landscape, hardscape, and irrigation construction.
