Position Summary: The Estimator & Bid Build Sales professional plays a crucial role in the precise and prompt creation of estimates for various projects. This individual will ensure that all estimates reflect current market conditions, including product and subcontractor pricing, as well as the operational capabilities of the company.
Compensation: Competitive salary range of $80,000-$110,000 plus commission.
Key Responsibilities:
Estimation Duties:
- Supervise the estimating process and uphold standards.
- Train team members on estimating landscape plans, materials, labor, and margins.
- Generate estimates for Bid Build landscape projects.
- Review estimates prepared by the design sales team before client presentation.
- Ensure high-quality plan sets and estimates are provided to the operations team.
- Conduct all aspects of the bidding process, including material takeoffs and subcontractor quotes.
- Guarantee the thoroughness and accuracy of all estimates.
- Collaborate with landscape architects/designers and construction managers to accurately price construction elements.
- Maintain communication with Design and Construction departments to ensure timely proposal submissions with accurate budgets.
- Calculate installation costs for various landscaping elements, including hardscapes, drainage, and planting.
Sales & Client Interaction:
- Exhibit exceptional customer service skills while engaging with clients on prospective projects.
- Meet with clients to create and present estimate proposals for landscape projects.
- Effectively sell proposals to prospective clients, with or without senior management assistance.
Estimation Template Management:
- Oversee and update the estimation template for landscape proposals.
- Assist in annual updates of costs and necessary adjustments in proposal templates.
- Collaborate with vendors to maintain and update pricing information.
Required Skills:
- Detail-oriented with a strong focus on planning and execution.
- Ability to interpret landscape project plans of varying complexity.
- Creative problem-solving skills, both independently and collaboratively.
- Strong organizational skills to manage multiple deadlines and interruptions.
- Open to constructive feedback and capable of timely adjustments.
- Dependable and trustworthy.
- Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.
- Knowledge of local construction best practices.
- Valid driver's license with a clean driving record.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in a relevant construction field.
- Familiarity with industry-specific bidding software.
- Proficiency in AutoCAD.
- Experience in high-end residential landscape construction is advantageous.
- Background in construction, project management, or purchasing is a plus.
Experience:
- A minimum of 3-5 years of experience in landscape or construction estimating.
