The Senior Vice President of Client Engagement is accountable for overseeing all facets of discovering new client partnerships, nurturing client relationships, managing the sales pipeline, and providing support for contractual agreements. This position will entail leadership of the business development team alongside the formulation and execution of strategies aimed at broadening the company’s client base. The role collaborates closely with the operations and preconstruction divisions to create opportunities while balancing revenue goals with surpassing client expectations through innovative solutions. This position is ideal for a seasoned and cooperative expert with extensive knowledge of renewable Engineering, Procurement, Construction (EPC), and Operations & Maintenance (O&M) sectors. The role necessitates working in conjunction with Strata's Project Development team to drive origination opportunities that utilize the department's core strengths to generate new business.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Formulate a comprehensive Business Development strategy along with an actionable implementation plan.
  • Prepare the team and execute targeted business development action plans for specific markets, key clients, and project opportunities.
  • Deliver monthly executive updates regarding the status of all key accounts and new account acquisition.
  • Maintain awareness of critical changes in the EPC and O&M markets, including competitor developments, market trends, and policy shifts.
  • Assist in the creation of marketing materials for EPC and O&M business units. Develop and present proposals to clients.
  • Act as a liaison to prospective and existing clients to ensure their needs are consistently addressed.
  • Support and coordinate pre-construction activities throughout the sales process and final contracting.
  • Collaborate with the Director of Commercial Operations and Legal to comprehend key terms that support client evaluations and expectation management.
  • Engage directly throughout the contracting process to ensure continuity of commercial terms.
  • Work with Project Development to identify projects requiring EPC or O&M services and provide insights for modeling or asset sales.
  • Offer budgeting assistance to clients as needed and adopt a fail-fast approach to project screening and indicative bids.
  • Enhance and maintain the Customer Relationship Management (CRM) system.
  • Facilitate the development of bid strategies in support of bid managers.
  • Effectively communicate financial opportunities and outcomes to executive committees and decision-makers in a clear and concise manner.
  • Strengthen internal relationships through regular engagement with department leaders, ensuring effective communication for long-term partnerships.
  • Continuously enhance and track customer relationships, developing and maintaining KPIs related to outreach, market segments, success rates, and client feedback to inform strategy.
  • Participate in industry associations and events to network with clients and other professionals in the field.
  • General Management: Collaborate with other managers and directors to ensure alignment of business systems, processes, and policies across departments.
  • Supervise a small team of 1-2 staff members.
Qualifications:
  • A minimum of 10 years of experience in business development within construction firms or service providers in the energy sector.
  • An established network of clients or contacts within the utility or Independent Power Producer (IPP) market.
  • Exceptional communication skills, both verbal and written, with the ability to produce highly professional proposals and presentations.
  • Proficient in computer usage and Microsoft Office applications (Outlook, Word, Excel, etc.).
  • Capability to prioritize and manage multiple tasks, adapting to changing priorities as necessary.
  • Ability to work under pressure and adjust to evolving requirements with a positive attitude.
  • Self-motivated, proactive, and an effective team player.
  • Ability to interact professionally with all levels of employees, management, vendors, clients, and others.
Work Environment:
  • This position is hybrid, involving work in an office environment. The candidate must be able to sit, stand, bend, twist, and lift up to 20 pounds. Travel may be required to engage clients and pursue business opportunities.
  • Attendance at industry events will involve coordination with participants and management of any in-person engagements.
