Position Overview

GENERAL SUMMARY OF RESPONSIBILITIES

The Vice President of Finance at GoTriangle is tasked with overseeing the organization's financial stability and growth. This role encompasses the management of financial resources, ensuring optimal cost efficiency, liquidity, profitability, transparency, and security. Reporting directly to the Chief Executive Officer, the Vice President of Finance is responsible for directing all financial operations, ensuring adherence to regulatory standards, managing substantial budgets, and providing strategic financial insights to support the organization's mission.

This executive position requires a proactive approach to financial management, utilizing data-driven strategies to help the organization meet its strategic objectives. The Vice President of Finance will oversee the planning and management of the organization's financial needs, including budget preparation, forecasting, analytics, and fiscal oversight, while maintaining robust internal controls and processes.

As a key member of the GoTriangle leadership team, the Vice President of Finance is expected to foster a positive organizational culture that aligns with the agency's core values and promotes financial literacy among team members.


KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Collaborate with the CEO and Board of Trustees to formulate and implement financial policies and procedures that reflect the organization's values and strategic objectives.
  • Provide regular updates to the Board of Trustees regarding the organization's financial performance, including monthly reports on budget adherence, forecasts, and economic risks and opportunities.
  • Act as a vital member of the Executive Team to establish the organization's strategic direction and business strategy, translating these strategies into actionable budgets and plans for each department.
  • Oversee financial planning and budgeting for all departments, including tax and audit strategies, cost structures, cash management, grant and contract oversight, and procurement processes.
  • Utilize financial insights to guide decision-making regarding capital acquisitions, joint ventures, and other investment opportunities.
  • Manage significant capital project investments in infrastructure, equipment, or other assets, ensuring sound financial decision-making that aligns with the organization's strategic goals.
  • Ensure the effective utilization of the organization's financial resources.
  • Guarantee compliance with financial reporting and control standards.
  • Supervise and mentor a team of 8-10 staff members, fostering a culture of excellence, innovation, collaboration, and accountability.
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with board members, staff, state and federal funding partners, vendors, auditors, banking representatives, and other stakeholders.
  • Oversee the management of organizational liabilities through a comprehensive risk management framework.
  • May serve as the Finance Officer and Assistant Treasurer to the Board of Trustees.
  • May act as a liaison to the Board and its Committees on all financial matters, ensuring high visibility and accessibility to Board members.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS AND REQUIREMENTS

  • Bachelor's degree in business, finance, or a related field from an accredited institution.
  • A relevant Master's degree is highly preferred.
  • Over 10 years of progressively responsible experience in financial leadership, demonstrating a successful track record in agency finance strategy, compliance, and capital allocation.
  • Ability to conduct in-depth analyses and proactively identify trends, collaborating with executives to interpret insights.
  • Capability to devise and implement innovative solutions to enhance productivity and achieve cost efficiencies.
  • Strong strategic business acumen to ensure programs are practical and deliver tangible business value.
  • Exceptional leadership, negotiation, and management skills.
  • Comprehensive knowledge of financial regulations, controls, and procedures.
  • Excellent financial analytical skills.
  • Proficiency in database and accounting software systems.
  • Experience with Microsoft Dynamics 365 is strongly preferred.
  • Experience in finance systems implementation is preferred.
  • Outstanding written and verbal communication and presentation skills.

An equivalent combination of related education and experience may be considered for the above qualifications.


WORKING CONDITIONS:

Office environment with minimal exposure to dust, noise, or extreme temperatures. Occasional exposure to less favorable working conditions may occur while visiting operational facilities, where adherence to safety protocols and use of protective equipment is required.


PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

Sedentary work: Exerting up to 10 pounds of force occasionally and/or a negligible amount of force frequently or constantly to lift, carry, push, pull, or otherwise move objects, including the human body. Sedentary work involves sitting most of the time, with walking and standing required only occasionally.
