Durham, North Carolina, United States Fortrea Full time

As a premier global contract research organization (CRO) committed to scientific excellence and possessing extensive clinical development expertise, Fortrea offers a comprehensive suite of clinical development, patient access, and technological solutions across over 20 therapeutic domains.

With a workforce exceeding 19,000 professionals operating in more than 90 countries, Fortrea is revolutionizing the development of drugs and devices for partners and patients worldwide.

The Senior Vice President, Integrated Evidence Practice (IEP), Consulting will oversee a profit and loss business unit that crafts, implements, and operationalizes integrated evidence strategies.

Integrated Evidence generation merges various health sciences to enhance value creation for pharmaceutical, biotechnology, and medical device firms.

This process encompasses multiple functions, life cycle phases, research methodologies, and geographical considerations.

As the demand from regulators and payers for comprehensive evidence regarding a product's benefits, risks, and value intensifies, there is a growing necessity to harmonize strategic planning for these stakeholders, including patients, healthcare providers, and policymakers.

Real-world evidence (RWE) is increasingly being integrated early in clinical development to boost the likelihood of technical and regulatory success, market access, and optimal commercialization.

Evidence-based medicine practices are heightening the requirement for life sciences companies to establish a dynamic and sustainable evidence foundation to support their products throughout their lifecycle.

This leader will motivate and guide a team of consultants while also fostering an internal network of scientific experts, including physicians, regulatory scientists, health economists, market access strategists, epidemiologists, biostatisticians, and digital health and AI specialists.

The Senior Vice President of Integrated Evidence will be accountable for pinpointing growth opportunities and advancing business development initiatives through Consulting's market strategy, in collaboration with Fortrea's Commercial division.

As a leader in Consulting, your responsibilities will include strategically directing and managing the IEP within the Fortrea consulting framework while playing a crucial role in crafting innovative solutions that range from integrated evidence planning in pre-clinical development to late-phase RWE platforms, facilitating evidence-based value demonstration.

Collaborating with colleagues across Consulting and the Fortrea enterprise to deliver scientifically grounded strategies and integrated evidence solutions will be essential for your success.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Drive business development, including repeat client engagements and new customer opportunities; collaborate with internal divisions to identify and pursue relevant prospects.
  • Lead consulting and research teams, ensuring adherence to budgetary and timeline constraints while meeting quality standards; innovate and enhance service offerings to address market and client demands.
  • Stay informed about industry trends and advancements in evidence-based medicine methodologies.
  • Engage in leadership team meetings and initiatives as necessary.
  • Identify and connect with regional and national RWE and EBM experts and organizations, profiling data sources and entities conducting real-world outcomes research relevant to Fortrea's products and therapeutic areas.
  • Manage client relationships and provide executive oversight of engagements.
  • Oversee project leaders and teams responsible for project execution.
  • Collaborate with clients to comprehend their evidence requirements and challenges.
  • Offer expert guidance on study design, data collection, analysis, and interpretation.
  • Develop and mentor team members; participate in recruitment and performance management.
  • Effectively manage internationally remote and culturally diverse teams.
  • Communicate integrated evidence of varying complexities to formulary and healthcare policy decision-makers and their influencers, adhering to company policies.
  • Enhance knowledge and awareness of the value propositions of Fortrea's marketed products, enabling key healthcare and formulary professionals to make informed therapeutic decisions on behalf of patients and their providers.
  • Assist in the development, maintenance, and dissemination of Standard Operating Procedures and supporting company processes; uphold quality standards.
  • Collaborate with Regulatory, Market Access, HEOR & RWE strategy leads on study design and analysis.
  • Monitor national and regional healthcare policy changes and payer environments, assess competitive data/gaps, and communicate these insights back to the organization to maintain Fortrea's competitive edge in EBM issues and HEOR data for strategic and commercial planning.
  • Achieve financial objectives in line with group goals.
  • Perform all other duties as assigned.
Qualifications (Minimum Required):
  • Advanced degree (Ph.D., M.S., or equivalent) in a relevant field (e.g., epidemiology, health economics, biostatistics, engineering).
  • A minimum of 10 years of relevant experience with a master's degree (or 7 years with a doctoral degree), including extensive experience in RWE research, preferably in a consulting or pharmaceutical context.
  • Exceptional written and interpersonal communication skills, with the ability to present technical information clearly to an executive-level audience.
  • Proven expertise in the scientific and technical aspects of the discipline and in research studies; experience in a consulting environment; strong skills in a market access/HEOR-related discipline.
  • Strong communication, organizational, and analytical abilities; capacity to analyze and understand complex client issues and develop and implement solutions.
  • Extensive experience and strong skills in leading teams; ability to challenge conventional thinking to resolve client issues and develop solutions.
  • Ability to establish, maintain, and expand long-term client relationships.
  • Team-oriented approach.
Experience (Minimum Required):
  • 12 years of experience in the field; a minimum of 10 years in a consulting environment.
  • 10 years of experience in a leadership capacity.
  • Broad knowledge of clinical development and the EBM/RWE landscape.
