Job Summary
The Fleet Maintenance Supervisor is tasked with developing, refining, and executing CEMEX's Standards & Best Practices for the upkeep of all Commercial Fleet Equipment (Mobile Equipment). This role involves overseeing, planning, and coordinating the maintenance of all transport fleet vehicles to ensure compliance with legal and company regulations, as well as CEMEX's additional safety protocols, including those for owner-operators.
The Supervisor is responsible for maintaining a safe, reliable, and cost-effective fleet of vehicles to support business operations. This includes ensuring the proper utilization and care of physical assets, managing costs, and fostering relationships with external vendors. The role also entails supervising the maintenance operations team, collaborating closely with shop supervisors and internal stakeholders, and conducting regular audits of equipment and facilities.
Key Responsibilities
- Continuously enhance maintenance practices and procedures to ensure effective management of the fleet, focusing on cost control, employee development, and safety standards.
- Guarantee the availability of safe and reliable vehicles to meet operational demands.
- Develop, modify, and implement CEMEX Standards & Best Practices for the management of all Mobile Equipment, including those for owner-operators across various operations.
- Facilitate and contribute to periodic mechanic/safety meetings to maintain positive working relationships among employees and promote morale, productivity, and efficiency.
- Lead and advance operational initiatives identified at local and national levels to strengthen the company's engineering, fleet strategies, and safety initiatives.
- Plan and coordinate new vehicle acquisitions in collaboration with procurement, adhering to agreed fleet specifications from the Logistics Director and regional teams.
- Ensure maintenance shops are adequately staffed and that mechanics receive proper training.
- Negotiate with Mobile Equipment Vendors regarding parts, services, and secure rebates, credits, and loaner equipment to meet replacement criteria.
- Manage fleet disposal in accordance with procurement processes to achieve optimal results for the company.
- Ensure the cleanliness and upkeep of maintenance shops through regular inspections and preventive maintenance programs.
- Review and assess new products, providing recommendations for continuous improvement.
- Prioritize and allocate maintenance resources to achieve long-term objectives while addressing short-term emergencies.
- Adhere to all CEMEX, DOT, OSHA, and MSHA regulations at all times and utilize appropriate safety equipment while on company premises.
- Meet or exceed company safety standards.
- Perform additional responsibilities as assigned by management.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's Degree or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
- 7 years of experience in various responsibilities related to plant production and maintenance, equipment upkeep, and safety management.
- 5 years in a supervisory capacity.
- Familiarity with OSHA/MSHA regulations.
- 5 years of experience in Transport Operations and/or Transport Maintenance.
- Preferred: Bachelor's degree.
- Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
- Strong leadership capabilities with the ability to motivate and manage a team.
- Familiarity with industry concepts, practices, and procedures.
- Financial acumen, ideally with experience in costing, reporting, and analysis.
- Effective influencing and persuasion skills, capable of engaging with individuals at all organizational levels, including senior management.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite, including Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to relate to all organizational levels.
- Capable of analyzing information and driving initiatives.
- Willingness to travel overnight, potentially up to 50% of the time.
- Knowledge of Process Assessment and Development practices.
- Understanding of Legal, Regulatory, and Safety Knowledge.
- Systems Thinking and Analytical Thinking.
- Familiarity with Maintenance Management Software is preferred.

Working Conditions
- Ability to work extended hours as necessary.
- Capability to work with standard office/computer equipment.
- Comfortable working in an open office environment.
- Willingness to participate in required overnight travel as necessary.
Physical Requirements
- Must be able to perform all job functions, including walking, sitting, lifting, pushing, pulling, turning, and climbing to a significant degree.
- Exerting up to 50 pounds of force occasionally, and/or a negligible amount of force frequently.
- Regularly required to communicate effectively with employees and visitors while functioning safely around heavy equipment.
