ROLE SUMMARY: The selected individual will represent Thruway at key client sites, acting as an extension of our distribution operations. This role is multifaceted and includes supporting other inventory management and warehouse personnel as needed.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Maintain consistent attendance and presence at customer facilities.
  • Safely operate company vehicles while upholding a clean driving record.
  • Proactively communicate regarding customer satisfaction, product delivery, or quality issues to the support team.
  • Exhibit professionalism in demeanor and appearance while performing job duties.
  • Build and maintain positive relationships with clients.
  • Bring a proactive mindset focused on continuous improvement and excellence in program management.
  • Address challenges, provide guidance, and share relevant information with sales and management teams to ensure client satisfaction.
  • Prioritize safety in all equipment operations, adhering to both customer and company safety protocols.
  • Manage inventory delivery, offloading, and receipt at customer locations, ensuring seamless restocking processes.
  • Assess consumption patterns for reordering and collaborate with clients to optimize inventory levels for maximum efficiency.
  • Conduct quality control checks to ensure orders meet customer specifications and address any discrepancies with the sales team.
  • Engage with Supplier Quality Engineers and plant management to ensure program efficiency and effectiveness.
  • Communicate daily with line personnel to identify changes in product demand and respond accordingly.
  • Interact regularly with Thruway staff to communicate plant requirements and secure necessary products and support.
  • Prepare for and conduct physical inventory checks at consignment locations.
  • Maintain cleanliness by removing waste from stock areas.
  • Implement 5S principles (Sort, Straighten, Shine, Standardize, Sustain) to enhance organization and cleanliness in all work areas.
  • Foster a collaborative culture that exceeds customer expectations and positions Thruway as a trusted partner.

ESSENTIAL COMMUNICATION SKILLS: The ideal candidate will possess a positive attitude and exceptional communication abilities, facilitating constant interaction with various customer and Thruway teams. Required skills include:

  • Proficiency in Thruway ERP/CRM systems.
  • Strong reading comprehension.
  • A collaborative spirit, willing to assist colleagues as needed.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES:

  • Valid driver's license and ability to operate company vehicles.
  • Experience in loading and unloading shipments.
  • Sound judgment and quick decision-making capabilities.
  • Excellent organizational and communication skills.
  • Integrity and adherence to ethical standards.
  • Proven success in inventory management.
  • Strong project management and multitasking abilities.
  • Effective written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills.
  • Aptitude for implementing improvement initiatives.
  • Comprehensive knowledge of customer products.
  • Ability to operate forklifts and other heavy equipment safely.
  • Willingness to work extended hours on foot.
  • Meticulous attention to detail and accuracy.
  • Capacity to lift boxes weighing up to 50 lbs.

WORK ENVIRONMENT/PHYSICAL DEMANDS: The role requires regular standing, using hands for handling objects, and occasional climbing or balancing. Responsibilities include:

  • Lifting and moving items weighing up to 50 pounds.
  • Specific vision abilities required include close vision and depth perception.
  • Work involves sitting/driving approximately 25% of the time and standing/moving 75% of the time.
  • Compliance with PPE requirements while on-site.
  • Potential to provide services for multiple client locations.

TRAVEL: The majority of time will be spent on-site at client facilities, with travel between Thruway and customer locations as needed. Occasional assignments at other Thruway facilities may also be required.
