Position Overview

The Senior Construction Project Manager is responsible for conducting thorough inspections of construction activities to ensure compliance with design specifications and relevant building regulations. This role involves generating detailed reports and reviewing shop drawings and submittals, providing recommendations for approval or disapproval to the Contracting Officer's Technical Representative (COTR). The manager will also notify the appropriate authorities of any identified safety hazards and propose corrective measures.

The Construction Manager will verify that all corrections and actions are completed and will actively participate in project meetings. This position does not alter the project's scope, budget, duration, or schedule, nor does it impose any obligations on the organization.

The Senior Construction Project Manager oversees project design and construction efforts, including managing schedules, funding, and daily operations. This includes evaluating the performance of construction contractors and ensuring effective integration and coordination with field personnel. The manager will assess, validate, and manage any project change requests and provide official weekly status updates.

Additionally, the Construction Manager will prepare and disseminate project communications to stakeholders, management, and integrated project teams. They will assist the COTR and Contracting Officer with acquisition planning, execution, and administration, including conducting pre-bid and pre-construction site assessments.

Key Responsibilities

  • Conduct inspections to ensure adherence to design specifications and building codes.
  • Review and provide recommendations on shop drawings and submittals.
  • Report non-compliant safety issues and suggest corrective actions.
  • Verify completion of required corrections.
  • Participate in project meetings and discussions.
  • Manage design and construction efforts, including scheduling and funding.
  • Evaluate contractor performance and ensure project objectives are met.
  • Prepare and monitor project schedules and budgets.
  • Provide technical guidance on construction-related issues.
  • Ensure integration of various systems, including IT and security.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in any field; or a high school/vocational diploma with five years of relevant experience.
  • Must possess a valid U.S. Driver's License and be eligible for an International Driver's License.
  • Experience in construction management, with a minimum of five years in the field.
  • Knowledge of building codes and ADA requirements.
  • Ability to operate project management software, such as MS Project or MAXIMO.

Additional Requirements

  • Must be able to travel to various locations, including remote environments.
  • Ability to work in operationally-sensitive settings and perform outdoor tasks in varying weather conditions.
  • Strong communication skills, both written and verbal, are essential.
