Position: Senior Personnel Security Specialist

SiloSmashers is in search of a Senior Personnel Security Specialist to provide expert support for our federal law enforcement client, focusing on personnel security operations.


Key Responsibilities:

· Deliver comprehensive support to the FBI Security Program by engaging in the management of intricate security assessment investigations initiated by FBI Field Offices (FOs).

· Conduct, evaluate, and interpret a range of interviews with both internal and external stakeholders.

· Investigate a variety of subjects, including FBI applicants, contract personnel, and individuals needing security clearances or access to FBI facilities.

· Offer analytical support and research on complex issues related to Personnel Security.

· Prepare detailed reports and presentations utilizing critical thinking and analytical skills.

· Contribute to the formulation of innovative principles and methodologies.

· Inform supervisors about potentially sensitive issues or those with significant implications.

· Initiate thorough checks of FBI indices, arrest records, and similar databases to gather essential information for assigned cases.

· Review and analyze various FBI Government files to assess an individual's potential security risks.

· Summarize findings and draft necessary correspondence to relevant FOs to initiate investigations, outlining the background of individual cases and highlighting security concerns.

· Collaborate with FOs to ensure submission of investigation information and critically assess investigative reports for compliance with administrative standards.

· Recommend the necessity for polygraph examinations and interviews based on thorough data analysis.

· Analyze results from further investigations and interviews to ensure all issues are resolved and gaps in information are addressed.

· Compile a formal written analysis of security concerns and their resolutions based on gathered information.

· Establish and maintain communication with other FBI HQ Divisions, DOJ, and agency officials to resolve queries as needed.

· Work collaboratively with other FBI components to address various encountered issues.

· Propose new methods and procedures for security clearance processes, including SCI regulations and DOJ orders.

· Conduct security assessment investigations and provide recommendations to FBI HQ.

· Review and evaluate requests for security clearance investigations.

· Prepare comprehensive analyses of all information developed, including potential remedial actions to meet security standards.

· Assist in briefings and debriefings of individual cases as required.

· Ensure all official documents are uploaded into the designated record management systems.


Minimum Qualifications:

· A minimum of nine (9) years of experience in personnel security investigations or as an investigative analyst.

· A Bachelor's Degree with two (2) years of experience, or an Associate Degree with four (4) years of experience, or equivalent federal, state, local, or military law enforcement experience.

· Current TS security clearance with the ability to obtain SCI access, including passing a security CI polygraph exam.

· Proficient in conducting and interpreting database checks and credit reports.

· Experience in routine office administrative support tasks.

· Strong analytical skills to review and assess various types of incoming materials and investigative reports.

· At least four (4) years of experience in developing and writing Reports of Investigation.

· Proficient in Microsoft Office applications and skilled in conducting online research.

· Familiarity with Federal law enforcement and intelligence community IT systems for automated record checks.

· Knowledge of applicable commercial and Federal Government database systems.

· Experience in performing database searches related to personnel security matters.

· Responsible for maintaining the security of program data and materials.

· Experience in processing security clearance and background investigation documentation.

· Excellent oral and written communication skills.

· Demonstrated knowledge of Federal Government standards for investigations and security protocols.
