Role Summary:

The Personnel Security Specialist is responsible for reviewing investigation request documentation for accuracy and completeness, as well as processing e-QIP packets for federal and contractor personnel. This role involves initiating background investigation paperwork, reviewing applicant submissions, and ensuring all data entry requirements are met.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Engage in analytical and critical thinking.

  • Provide analytical support in response to requests from various government entities.
  • Ensure quality control of processes and outputs.
  • Prepare clear and concise reports on threat identification and analysis.
  • Make informed observations and judgments.
  • Contribute to the development of organizational policies and procedures.
  • Collaborate with experts in behavioral and social sciences for research and analysis.
  • Evaluate and prepare recommendations on threat and risk matters.
  • Analyze information from diverse sources.
  • Produce and disseminate reports, briefings, and assessments.
  • Encourage information sharing where applicable.
  • Represent the organization in working groups and committees.
  • Identify critical intelligence topics and initiate research efforts.
  • Define analytical objectives and identify necessary resources.
  • Plan for long-term organizational mission requirements.
  • Assess resource capabilities and identify shortfalls.
  • Perform all duties associated with a Grade 5 as necessary.
  • Conduct high-level security investigations and make adjudication recommendations.
  • Lead contractor teams and perform quality control reviews.
  • Identify training needs based on quality control findings.
  • Provide training to address identified deficiencies.

Qualifications:

  • Experience in personnel security investigations or analysis.
  • Bachelor's Degree with ten years of relevant experience, or an Associate's Degree with twelve years of experience.
  • Strong oral and written communication skills for conducting interviews and preparing reports.
  • In-depth knowledge of investigative processes to extract accurate information.
  • Demonstrated analytical skills to assess security vulnerabilities and develop leads.
  • Ten years of experience in federal law enforcement in personnel security.
  • Technical training or certification as an investigator or adjudicator is required.
  • Ability to obtain a Top Secret security clearance and pass a security CI polygraph exam.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Advanced degree in any field.
  • Comprehensive knowledge of the FBI Security Program and its procedures.
  • Extensive experience in conducting sensitive security investigations.
  • Proficient in correlating and evaluating data for documentation purposes.
  • Understanding of interagency relationships to facilitate information gathering.
  • Ability to maintain effective relationships with government representatives.
