Project Management Engineer

At J R Davis Construction, our Project Engineers collaborate closely with the Project Manager and the entire project team to facilitate and streamline the various processes involved in large-scale civil construction projects. You will play a crucial role in ensuring that specific elements of the project timeline are upheld by overseeing submittal approvals, coordinating the prompt delivery of materials, and managing schedules and budgets effectively.
Key Responsibilities
- Oversee work schedules and coordinate design modifications and/or plan updates with project stakeholders.
- Possess a solid understanding of the project scope, regularly consulting with field operations, suppliers, and subcontractors.
- On a daily basis, the Project Engineer evaluates project requirements, adjusts the project schedule as necessary, analyzes specifications, collaborates with the production team, and monitors all contract pay items.
- Update the project timeline based on input from Field Operations in accordance with contract specifications.
- Compile and distribute subcontractor bids and estimates, ensuring contract documents are available at the project site for management input.
- Work closely under the guidance of Project Management.
- Ensure adherence to Safety Policies, prioritizing safety as a collective responsibility.
- Assist the Project Manager with project initiation and closure processes.
- Process and track all Submittals and RFIs, including maintaining logs.
- Create and maintain the Project CPM Schedule with logical input from Project Management and Field Operations.
- Support Project Operations with two-week Look Ahead schedules, particularly for FDOT Projects requiring weekly CPM look ahead with resource loading.
- Attend and maintain minutes for Weekly Progress Meetings when the owner does not provide them.
- Coordinate with Survey regarding project issues that necessitate survey involvement or RFI requests.
- Verify that contract drawings are accurately aligned with EOR revisions, RFIs, and CSI modifications.
- Assist the Project Manager with quarterly Look Ahead Schedules and projected resource requirements.
- Provide precise quantities from the field, with assistance from the project superintendent, for billing, cost control, projections, and completion support. These quantities should be recorded in Heavy Job.
- Assist in reviewing Labor and Equipment reports with field personnel concerning budgetary matters.
- Help schedule, track, and coordinate subcontractors and the delivery of permanent materials.
- A Bachelor's degree in Construction Management, Engineering, or a related field, or equivalent experience is required.
- Proficient computer skills are essential, including familiarity with construction project management software.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal abilities.
- Strong problem-solving skills.
- Able to thrive in a collaborative office and field environment.
- Develop and maintain positive working relationships with clients and subcontractors.
