Your Role

We are currently seeking a Fire Protection Designer/Engineer to join our team. This role encompasses engineering, design, and specification of fire protection systems across various sectors, including Hospitality-Gaming, Entertainment, and Science & Technology.

Key Responsibilities
  • Proficient in Revit and CAD for creating fire protection drawings.
  • Develop detailed sections, riser diagrams, and elevations for complex equipment and piping.
  • Calculate equipment room dimensions during the Schematic Design (SD) and Design Development (DD) phases.
  • Determine the content of drawings and specifications to align with project scope.
  • Edit specifications to accurately reflect project requirements.
  • Select and schedule equipment with minimal oversight.
  • Engage with vendors to establish specification requirements.
  • Evaluate contractor pricing and cost estimates critically.
  • Maintain the Engineering Book for the project.
  • Respond to Requests for Information (RFIs) and review submittals accurately.
  • Manage design processes to adhere to work plan hours across multiple projects.
  • Collaborate with the team, project manager, and clients to achieve project milestones.
  • Address installation challenges with fire protection systems and conduct site visits as necessary.
  • Conduct independent site surveys.
  • Perform code research to ensure compliance with local regulations and engage with code officials.
  • Possess a thorough understanding of various NFPA code sections and their annual updates.
  • Draft new specification sections and develop project-specific details as needed.
  • Implement risk management procedures to mitigate exposure to potential issues.
  • Edit and create scope of work narratives, including SD narratives and basis of design.
  • Prepare studies and reports related to fire protection systems for various projects.
  • Select and layout fire pump systems, ensuring proper pressures and flows.
  • Direct flow tests at hydrants or hose connections.
  • Understand and apply gas suppression, deluge, pre-action systems, and high-rise design principles.
  • Have a foundational knowledge of Factory Mutual standards and requirements.
Qualifications
  • A minimum of 3 years of experience in fire protection design for commercial buildings, preferably in hospitality, themed entertainment, science & technology, or healthcare.
  • A degree in Engineering (BS in Architectural Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Fire Protection Engineering, or a related field) is preferred.
  • An Engineer in Training (EIT) license is preferred.
  • Proficiency in REVIT MEP and AutoCAD.
  • Willingness to travel for client meetings and project site evaluations.
