Job Overview

WSP is actively seeking a Mechanical Engineer to join our team. This role involves providing expert technical support and guidance for the evaluation, design, development, construction, testing, and inspection of mechanical systems in various infrastructure and construction projects across both public and private sectors. Responsibilities may encompass assisting with research, design, conceptual development, planning, installation, operation, maintenance, and optimal integration of mechanical systems, including automatic temperature control, air distribution, hydronic, and plumbing systems. The position requires generating precise reports and documentation regarding installation, construction, and operational specifications, ensuring that all responsibilities are met with a quality standard that aligns with industry benchmarks for design, safety, and functionality.

Your Contributions
  • Gather, compile, and analyze data from physical work sites, surveys, blueprints, schematics, technical drawings, and computer-generated reports for project development and construction.
  • Conduct professional mechanical engineering tasks and perform inspections of proposed and existing site conditions, ensuring compliance with applicable regulations and standards.
  • Engage in the integration of advanced technologies, modeling techniques, and design requirements to ensure the effective installation and operation of systems according to specifications.
  • Verify site characteristics and provide technical assistance on engineering, design, and construction issues related to mechanical systems.
  • Collaborate with a multidisciplinary team of engineers and planners to execute project work, assist in equipment installation layouts, and ensure compliance with specifications and regulatory requirements.
  • Prepare visual data representations such as tables, charts, and technical drawings for the interpretation and presentation of findings.
  • Maintain quality control standards for accurate measurements, calculations, and reporting.
  • Support the development and scoping of small to medium-sized projects.
  • Contribute to the creation of technical reports and presentations that communicate research findings and address design or construction challenges.
  • Conduct engineering studies to gather information on design and construction issues and plan for future requirements.
  • Assist in analyzing data obtained during field investigations and contribute to action plans for risk mitigation.
  • Help in the preparation and implementation of site Health and Safety Plans.
  • Work collaboratively with other professionals on projects funded by various governmental levels.
  • Exhibit responsible decision-making regarding company resources and adhere to WSP's Code of Conduct.
  • Perform additional responsibilities as required by business needs.
Qualifications
Required:
  • Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical Engineering or a closely related field.
  • 3 to 5 years of relevant experience in engineering and mechanical design.
  • Engineer in Training Certification.
  • Strong understanding of mechanical engineering principles and their application to project work.
  • Experience in building and infrastructure planning, design, and construction management.
  • Ability to coordinate with regulatory agencies and understand compliance requirements.
  • Knowledge of mechanical systems and construction laws, codes, and record-keeping practices.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills for effective collaboration.
  • Strong self-leadership skills with attention to detail and ability to manage multiple priorities.
  • Proficiency in technical writing and use of design software (e.g., AutoCAD, CAM).
  • Critical thinking and problem-solving abilities to derive effective solutions from data analysis.
  • Commitment to workplace safety and adherence to health and safety policies.
  • Flexibility to work schedules that meet project requirements.
  • Willingness to travel as needed for project-specific tasks.
Preferred:
  • Master's Degree in Engineering.
  • Professional Licensure/Certification.
  • 40-Hour OSHA Health & Safety Training (HAZWOPER).
  • Basic First Aid and Adult CPR training.
