Position Overview

We are in search of a skilled Operations Specialist to ensure the seamless functioning of WSP's internal Compute services within the AMERICAS Hub. This role is integral to the IT Operations team and will report directly to the IT Infrastructure Operations Manager. The team is focused on supporting IT infrastructure operations, encompassing network, compute, cloud, and workplace systems and services. You will oversee and maintain all facets of Compute operations, with a primary emphasis on the services within the designated Hub.

Main Responsibilities

Key responsibilities related to Compute services and infrastructure include:

  • Overseeing daily operations to ensure alignment with expected service levels.
  • Conducting routine maintenance and health checks.
  • Managing upgrades and performance-related tasks.
  • Identifying and rectifying service and infrastructure faults.
  • Planning and executing minor infrastructure modifications.
  • Conducting business continuity tests.
  • Providing oversight and support for all service supplier and manufacturer activities.
  • Proactively identifying and resolving issues to prevent service disruptions.
  • Recognizing opportunities for service level enhancements.
  • Participating in the problem management process.
  • Conducting technical peer reviews and approvals for changes.
  • Supporting audit and compliance initiatives.
  • Managing and maintaining related platforms.
  • Providing on-call support and being available for extended hours as needed.

Qualifications and Experience

The ideal candidate will possess the following qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field.
  • 4-6 years of relevant experience in a Compute operations role.
  • Proven practical experience preferred over vendor certifications.
  • Experience in large/global enterprise IT environments with multiple distributed sites.
  • Familiarity with ITIL-aligned Service Management organizations.
  • Proficiency in various compute technologies and related activities, including:
    • Dell and HPE servers
    • Cisco UCS
    • VMware vCenter Products
    • Nutanix
    • HPE Storage (MSA, Nimble)
    • Storage Caching Technologies (Nasuni, Talon, Pandora)
    • Object Storage (EMC ECS, Azure, AWS)
    • Backup Products (Veeam, Networker, DataDomain, Avamar, NetBackup, Commvault)
  • Experience in server administration or similar roles with in-depth hardware knowledge.
  • Cloud administration skills (e.g., Azure, AWS).
  • Familiarity with server operating systems (e.g., Windows, Linux).
  • Knowledge of server virtualization platforms (e.g., VMware, Hyper-V).
  • Understanding of server and data security concepts and compliance requirements.
  • Proficiency in scripting and automation (e.g., PowerShell, Bash) for efficient server management.
  • Experience with storage and backup technologies, including SAN, NAS, RAID configurations, and data deduplication.
  • Knowledge of disaster recovery planning and data migration.
  • Ability to optimize server and storage performance while considering growth projections.

Skills and Competencies

  • Excellent written and spoken English is essential.
  • Competency in French or Spanish is advantageous.
  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
  • Strong organizational and project management skills, with a focus on documentation.
  • Exceptional analytical and problem-solving abilities.
  • Experience in compliance with information security requirements.

Compensation

Expected Salary Range: $61,000 - $128,900. This range reflects the company's good faith belief regarding the compensation for this position, based on the successful applicant's qualifications and internal equity.
