Your Role

WSP is initiating a search for a Sustainability Engineer. This role involves providing technical support and guidance for due diligence, investigations, remediation efforts, impact assessments, and environmental permitting projects.

Your responsibilities may include:

  • Assisting in the development of processes and infrastructure related to water supply, waste disposal, air emissions, and pollution control.
  • Preserving environmental quality by preventing contamination and degradation of air, water, and land resources.
  • Generating precise reports and documentation regarding field conditions and evaluating risks to ecological and human health.

It is essential to ensure that responsibilities are executed with a quality level that meets or exceeds industry standards.

Your Contributions


Collect, identify, and compile environmental data from various samples for projects and investigations.


Conduct professional environmental engineering tasks, including inspections of air emission sources, waste facilities, water supply systems, and pollution sources to ensure compliance with relevant regulations.

Verify site characteristics and provide technical assistance on various environmental matters.


Research historical land use through environmental hazmat databases.


Prepare data visualizations, such as tables and charts, for effective presentation of findings.

Maintain quality control standards for accurate measurements and reporting.


Assist in the development and scoping of small to medium-sized projects.


Contribute to technical reports and presentations that address environmental issues and solutions.


Conduct environmental studies to gather information on specific problems and plan for future needs.


Assist in analyzing and interpreting environmental data to develop action plans for mitigation activities.

Collaborate with cross-functional teams to execute project work.


Support the preparation and implementation of site Health and Safety Plans (HASPs).


Exercise ethical decision-making regarding company resources and adhere to WSP's Code of Conduct.

Perform additional responsibilities as required by business needs.

Who You Are

Required Qualifications
  • Bachelor's Degree in Environmental, Civil, Sanitary, Chemical, Industrial, Agricultural, or Public Health Engineering, or a closely related field.
  • 3 to 5 years of relevant experience in environmental engineering.
  • Engineer in Training Certification.
  • Knowledge of engineering principles and their application to environmental issues.
  • Ability to coordinate with regulatory agencies and understand compliance requirements.
  • Familiarity with hazardous substance reduction and mitigation programs.
  • Understanding of environmental laws and record-keeping practices.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Effective self-leadership and attention to detail.
  • Ability to learn new techniques and manage multiple priorities.
  • Moderate proficiency in technical writing and analytical tools.
  • Critical thinking and problem-solving skills.
  • Commitment to workplace safety and adherence to health policies.
  • Flexibility to work schedules that meet project requirements.
  • Willingness to travel as needed.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Master's Degree in Engineering.
  • Professional Licensure/Certification.
  • 40-Hour OSHA Health & Safety Training (HAZWOPER).
  • Basic First Aid and Adult CPR training.
